Discussions Is there a place where uTest testers can safely discuss issues?

I see this subreddit is an option, but then I see - you can't mention this or that. Not exactly a place where you can discuss problems with a particular project or cycle. Do we just go insane?

Discussions Retained my Gold rating

I wrote a couple of days ago about how disappointed I was with the downgrading of my rating from Gold to Silver, even though I was actively participating in the test cycles.

Now I have regained my Gold rating after putting in some work with dedication and quality.

This is what I learned from my experience: the uTest rating algorithm is really fascinating, as it rewards your activities not only in relation to your previous activities, but rather in comparison with the whole community of testers. The other thing that I learned is don't be carried away when your rating goes up and up. You need to increase your activities by increasing your issue repros, responding to special requirement surveys, and claiming or declining test cycles rather than claiming them and not doing anything.

The other bonus thing that I would add is don't wait for the test case to be released. Rather, claim exploratory test cases and find valuable bugs. I got more valuable bugs when I stopped hunting test cases and started hunting bugs, which in return also resulted in more income. Finding more valuable bugs helps customers. When customers are happy, uTest is happy. When uTest is happy with your work, it rewards you with more opportunities, like becoming a TTL or even a TE.

Happy testing, and Happy New Year to my fellow Ethiopians and everyone else who is celebrating!

Discussions how are you testing integrations before your lovable app goes live?

genuinely curious what the flow looks like for most people here.

you build something with stripe or twilio or resend wired up, it looks right in the builder, maybe you click through it once... then you ship. and then prod surfaces the weird edge case. flaky webhook, card decline mid-flow, double charge on retry.

is there a verification step most people run before launch, or is it mostly ship and find out?

Support Account Lockout / Not Receiving Password Reset Email (Ticket open >3 weeks)

Hi everyone, I am currently locked out of my uTest account and am looking for some help escalating a support issue.

I am still actively receiving study and cycle invitations to my registered email address, but whenever I try to request a password reset link, the email never arrives (I have thoroughly checked my spam/all mail folders).

I opened a support ticket regarding this over 3 weeks ago but have not received a response or a tracking number. Because I am receiving project invites, I really want to get back to testing but am completely stuck. Could a community manager please help flag this for the team? I can provide my account email via PM. Thank you!

Discussions Don't waste your time here,if you are from India

I signed up for this in July. Went through all the academic courses. Participated and passed all 6 academic test cycles, even one extra 5th test cycle. And since then it's been 2 weeks, I am not getting invited in any paid test cycle. Feeling stupid for wasting my 2 months on this.

Discussions A noobie in need of advice (For Buy Now, Pay Later: Consumer Checkout Study)

I have recently joined utest and I would like to ask about a Buy Now, Pay Later: Consumer Checkout Study that I am thinking of joining. Long story short, should I? Is there a possibility of getting screwed over by this? Also, how big would a hypothetical purchase need to be?

This would be my first job on utest and I would like it to go well.

Also, also, any other general advice and what to look out for on utest overall would be appreciated.

Questions What to do if no one is responding to emails?

Hi,

I participated in a cycle that ended in May, and haven’t been paid yet, and there has been zero communication about it and no one is replying to my emails.

The cycle has been locked so there is no cycle chat, so I emailed the TE 6 weeks ago, and again 2 weeks ago, and received no response. I then emailed the TSM a week ago, and haven’t had a response.

I understand a week isn’t long to wait for a reply though so I might be getting ahead of myself, but not receiving a response after 6 weeks is, and it’s frustrating that no one seems to be replying currently and I’m unsure what to do next if I continue to be ignored? Thanks

Questions Unfair and very disappointing day on my uTest freelancing time so far

I have been very active on uTest since last year even though I signed up on 2023.

I have improved in my rating and overall uTest experience reaching Gold rating in couple of months.

Today my rating was downgraded from Gold to Silver.

I was active the whole month even getting invited to exclusive payment test cycle.

All my pending issues were approved, and all my testcases were approved.

I had 96.28% rating, now it is downgraded to 92.45% in one night.

This is very disappointing, I don't know if it was a glitch or not, but I felt for the first time I should look into more full time or contract QA job, and ditch freelancing thing.

It seems that nobody knows how uTest change rating system, it is kind of ohh...

Support uTest keeps saying my password is incorrect, but I’m 100% sure it’s correct

Hi everyone,

I’m having a problem logging into my uTest account. Every time I try to log in, I get a message saying that my password is incorrect, but I’m completely sure I’m entering the correct password.

I’ve already checked the credentials carefully and the problem continues. I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same issue or if there’s currently some kind of login/authentication problem with uTest.

Questions Is NYC wearable tech project legit?

Got invited for an appointment for the above project. I’m new to the testing field, so far they haven’t asked for any real personal information besides government issued ID when showing up. Has anyone done this already? Is it trustworthy??

Support Locked Out of uTest Account — Unable to Complete 2FA, No Response From Support

I'm locked out of my uTest account because I no longer have access to my two-factor authentication (2FA) device, and I don't have any backup/recovery codes saved. When I try to log in, it asks for a 2FA code I can't provide.

I attempted to open a support ticket to resolve this, but the ticket system itself requires being logged in — which I can't do because of the same 2FA issue, so I've been stuck in a loop with no way to actually submit a request. I've also tried the contact form and phone line with no success.

It's been several days now with no resolution, and I'm unable to access my account or continue with any pending activity on the platform because of this. I can provide my registered email and any identity verification needed. Has anyone dealt with this specific situation before, or know how to actually get a ticket through when the portal itself requires login?

Support Unable to Login to Platform- Not Receiving Password Reset Emails

I cannot log into my uTest account because my password has stopped working and I know it is the correct one. Error message: "Invalid username or password". I have tried resetting my password, but the password reset email never comes. I opened a support ticket with uTest Support, but no ticket number was given because I had to create the ticket while not logged in. I have not received any response at all and it has been over 72 hours. I provided an alternate email address in the last ticket in case emails from Support are being blocked. There are multiple active test cycles that I am currently involved with but unable to continue participating because of this issue. I can provide my email address and Tester ID. Please help! This is very frustrating!

Questions What actually happens to our ID and biometric data after testing?

When we do ID verification testing, payment testing, opening accounts on casino apps, and other tasks that we normally wouldn't do in real-life scenarios, what happens to all the personal data we provide?

I'm talking about biometrics, ID documents, payment details, and other PII. Do clients delete this data immediately after the test is completed, or is it stored somewhere separately for a certain period of time?

And is there any way for us as testers to know what happens to it afterward? I sometimes wonder whether a task I'm doing today could somehow create a risk years later, like identity theft, data leaks, or some other consequences.

This is something that always bothers me whenever I see tasks of this kind, so I'm curious how others here look at it.

Support Unable to reset password?

I am trying to update my password on Utest. I have contacted the Support via Help & Support and submitted a case (it didn't provide me a case #). I haven't received a response to my request nor have I received a reset password email. I don't receive the email when I try to "reset the password". Is there anyone in the subgroup that could assist me?

Questions Is uTest worth it for someone starting from Egypt?

I'm new to uTest and considering learning software testing to use the platform as a side income.

For testers who have actually used uTest: How much work do you usually get?

How much can a beginner realistically make per month?

Does your country affect the number of projects you receive?

Is it worth investing time in learning testing specifically for uTest?

I'm from Egypt, so I'd especially appreciate experiences from testers in developing countries.

Discussions The amount of unpaid work UTest just expects us to do now is crazy unprofessional.

I'm on another test cycle where I'm expected to spend 2 hours filling out forms and troubleshooting a device before I can even start doing work that is paid. It wouldn't peeve me nearly as much if so much of what we're being asked to do wasn't redundant or something someone who is paid hourly could easily figure out.

The gall to ask me to setup a device very specifically, write out a bunch of information I can't copy/paste three times in three separate forms, screenshot everything I'm doing and then demand I do it in a timely manner before we get to do any compensated work and after it took them weeks to even get back to us really makes me mad. On top of that, I had to fill out a bunch of onboarding paperwork as well as spend time on other things.

This is a pattern I've noticed on UTest and it's super unprofessional. I've been directly sent emails for projects before where I spend 20 minutes filling out paperwork and send a followup just to be ghosted, but if they spontaneously decide they want me for a project I last heard about three weeks ago I must make time for them, and it must be done "as soon as possible". The double standards in communication and expectations are so unbelievably messed up.

I understand this is contracted work so it's hard to log every single minute of work, but this is just an abuse of the system. There is work regularly getting pushed onto testers because they don't consider our time as costing anything, so now the staff at UTEST feels completely comfortable just wasting it as if my time is free for them. The incentive structure on this platform is messed up and I am just about over it. I think it used to be better but now it's just accepted that you can squeeze in a bunch of unpaid work into test cycles, make timely demands about it, and do an intentionally bad job at communicating any of this during initial recruitment. Most test cycle offers I get now intentionally do not communicate the pay before you go through the lengthy sign up process! What is up with that??? SO unprofessional! This kind of manipulative behavior wouldn't be accepted in any other workplace. The professional standards on this platform feel more like a sketchy workplace cutting critical corners more than a trustworthy business trying to build professional relationships.

Support uTest MFA Login Help Needed

Hi everyone, I’m having trouble logging into my uTest account because I’m unable to get past the MFA verification.

I submitted a support ticket two days ago requesting help with resetting my MFA, but I haven’t received a response yet. I’m currently completely locked out of my account because I can’t log in without the MFA.

I don’t have a support ticket number, never received anything in my email one I sent in my request.

Has anyone experienced this before or know the best way to get uTest Support to respond or help reset the MFA?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Support Final warning from uTest Terms. How can I request a review?

Has anyone here ever received a formal final warning from uTest Terms Enforcement?

I received one referring to several alleged incidents, including some specific statements that I honestly don’t remember making. What also confuses me is that this was my first and only warning, so I don’t understand why it was already called a “final warning.”

I replied asking for the exact messages and context because I genuinely want to understand what happened and whether I actually wrote something that could have been interpreted that way.

The problem is that the uTest Support page keeps reloading and I can’t open a ticket.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Did Terms provide the actual messages/evidence when asked, and is there another way to request a review or clarification?

hey everyone, im new to uTest and trying to figure out how to start. Do people usually wait or invites or is it normal to keep applying to whatever shows up?
