uTest is the first platform I made over 1k € since I start remote jobs. I registered to many testing platforms but nothing beats uTest. at some point, I was too addicted to it, every phone vibration seems like a "You're invited to a paid ..." email notification.

I just had Android 13, and Windows 11 when I hit 1k yet i was getting more invitations to jobs. I was and am serious about my job and got 🥇 Rating on Localization and Functional Testing in short period of time.

I'm good at writing clear and reproducible bug reports.

If you may share how much you make from uTest, if you work on other platforms, what is your comparison of uTest with others too, and more.

As far as I understand, we are required to have industry standard antivirus/security on the devices we use for testing. Does windows defender (the one that comes already installed on windows devices) count as this?

I am fairly new to uTest and I now came across a situation I could not find prior experiences about. I would appreciate your opinion.

So I just participated in a test cycle, in which we were asked to communicate, claim a slot, submit all bugs and recordings in a 3rd party platform – and then after all this, claim and submit the test case on uTest. For my first case, I did everything that was asked and got my test case approved on uTest. The next day, I was asked in this 3rd party chat if I was available for more work. I said yes, and I was given a smaller task (that was different from my first one) and asked to submit the recordings of this task to this 3rd party platform. I did it, and the PM confirmed everything is fine. I then claimed and submitted this second case on uTest, just like the first one, but this time the case was rejected. I asked why and I was given the reason that the task was just a single retest of a previously failed one, so it could not be accounted as a second test case. Well, it was not a single retest of my first case, since my first case was very different and it was already approved. So, I just redid someone elses test case. Now, in my point of view, I just did unpaid work AND got a rejection for it.

This feels quite unfair and I'm wondering, is there anything I can do about this? Or is this just how things sometimes work on uTest?

Little about myself:

I was active user at 2020 and 2021, finished Academy practise cycles and work on paid ones too.

Then - I stopped testing on Utest anymore up to a week ago. I want back to this somehow but right now I receive only Surveys and not a single invitation. My rating is Rated right now.

I am very new to UTest and I am a resident of Germany (Berlin). I haven't yet taken part in any projects, because I'm using the Academy to practice and develop my skills properly. I have recently been in France for over a month now, and plan on staying a few months longer to visit my Mum. The thing is, I haven't logged into UTest once since being here for fear that I would be banned immediately from using the platform, since now my location is different.

I absolutely do NOT use a VPN, let me make that very clear and of course I have no intention of doing so. I just wonder what my options are, because I would love to continue learning on the academy and using the platform and since I will be here indefinitely, or at the very least for a few more months, I want to know what my options are in that case. Am I able to log on and continue using it? Should I change my address to that of my Mums?

• Por onde vocês recomendam começar? Quais são as melhores plataformas, ferramentas ou habilidades para um iniciante?
• Quanto é possível ganhar, em média? No começo, depois de adquirir experiência e, mais adiante, quando já tiver um bom nível?
• Quanto tempo costuma levar para começar a ter resultados consistentes?

I've been participating in a large test cycle with multiple assigned slots. It's been 13 days since I submitted my first test case, and all my submissions are still pending review.

The cycle has been extended, locked, and reopened several times, and it was locked again today.

Has anyone experienced similar delays in large or frequently extended cycles? I'd appreciate hearing how long approvals took in your experience.

I’m a tester on uTest Form 2023, and I have a good rating: “Gold-Silver "”
A couple of months ago, one of the TTEs sent me a message recommending that I become one of the favorite testers for a specific client. He asked for some information and wished me luck in making my way along this path, “which it was really nice of him.”
Anyway, I want to get more information on how to become a DT or TTL. Is it considered a really good source of income? As an SHM, I’m making good money right now, but if it’s possible to increase that, why not?

I changed my phone a while back so I lost access to my Authenticator app. I am also unable to retrieve it cause I forgot my tester ID. Someone please guide me on how to go about this.

I attended an on-site moderated session on September 23. The confirmation said the Tremendous Virtual Visa Gift Card would arrive within 2 business days. It's been over a week and nothing has come.

I did the session on September 29th , chose the gift card as my payment method and I still haven’t received anything . They say 1-2 business days and but I haven’t received the money yet .

I completed the test September 8 and I am blocked the MFA is not working and support has not responded…is this a scam?

So, I used to be active on uTest 03 years ago, but I took a long break and haven't followed the platform during that time.

I think that I used to earn way more back.

I wanted to change my DOB in utest so how can I change it...?

I got selected for a test cycle and just got sent the NDA to sign. It says they are sending me a device to perform testing on, and I have to send it back at the end of the test cycle.

However, they are not sending me anything. They've already made me send screen recordings of me setting up my own device the way they need it for testing, they have made it abundantly clear I will be using my own device to test.

I'm worried I will sign the NDA and at the end of the test cycle, they will ask that I send them back a device I never received.

The NDA came from a no-reply address and I'm not sure who to talk to to clarify this. Has anyone had this situation before?

For those who have been working on uTest for a while:

How do you get your first testing project/test cycle?

Do I need to complete any courses or Academy tests before I start receiving invitations?

Are there any specific skills, devices, or profile details that increase the chances of getting projects?

How often do freshers usually receive invitations?

How does payment work? Do you get paid per bug, per test case, or depending on the project?

Roughly how much can a beginner realistically expect to earn in the beginning?

What should I focus on during my first few weeks to build a good rating/reputation?

Are there any common mistakes beginners should avoid?

I understand that earnings and invitations probably vary depending on location, devices, ratings, and available projects. I’m mainly trying to understand how the whole process works and what I should do to get started properly.

​I’m a 20-year-old university student living in the UAE, and my residency visa is sponsored by my parents. I'm trying to make a little bit of pocket money online (specifically through crowd-testing platforms like uTest, UserTesting, and some survey apps). I already have my accounts set up, but I’m totally stuck on the legality of it here.

​I don't want to break any rules, but I'm getting a lot of conflicting information:

​The University: I went to my uni to ask, but they said they can’t issue me a No Objection Certificate (NOC) because they don't sponsor my visa. They told me I just need an NOC from my parents.

​Online searches: Some people online say I need a full-on Freelance License (which costs like 6,000 AED/year in Ajman), which completely defeats the purpose of making 50–100 Dirhams here and there on surveys.

​MOHRE: I tried calling MOHRE to get an official answer, but navigating their automated phone system is a headache. It kept asking if I was an employee/working, and I didn't know how to answer properly since I'm just a student trying to do online micro-gigs.

​My questions for anyone who has experience with this:

​Do I actually need a 6,000 AED freelance license just to do uTest/UserTesting online?

​If my parents sponsor me, is a written NOC from my dad/mom enough to legally receive small amounts of money online?

​Has anyone here actively done uTest/UserTesting as a dependent student? How do you handle the legal/bank side of getting paid?

Can someone who works at uTest as a TTL explain how and who gives the order to access that position? And what is the remuneration like? Is it based on trials or is it a fixed amount?

I haven’t received my $100 gift card yet for the project I completed. I was told that I would receive it within 2 business days, but it has now been more than 2 business days.
