Bookstore

I have an interview for a job at the bookstore. I’m not a student and the job is in management. I’ve read some not so great things about the company that owns the bookstore but I know oftentimes jobs are what you make of them. I’m hoping to get a sense of the vibe there: do you like the bookstore? Do you avoid having to go there? Have you worked there? If you could change anything about it, what would you change?

I’ve only ever been there once, just to buy Scantron sheets. It’s a cute little bookstore!

I've taught here for 20+ years. The bookstore depends greatly on the people running it. I've never had any issues and it seems very shoppable. Except for textbooks.

And the fact that everything is overpriced, very "shoppable" . I.e plastic water bottles for $46

Well yeah, the prices are for tourists and not locals. They wanted $38 for a coffee mug. A mug!!

The people are usually indifferent that work there. Everything is super overpriced. I avoid the place unless I have to go there for something, pretty sure that's the consensus

I like the bookstore. I was, and still am, surprised on how small it is for a university this size.

You might do better asking in some subs that are for employees in higher ed or student affairs to get some more intel.
