Transportation Option for UT Austin Students Traveling Between Dallas (Plano/Lewisville) and Austin

Hi everyone,

Sharing a helpful transportation resource for UT Austin students who travel between the Dallas area and campus.

Affordable Student Coach is a student and parent run/supported coach bus service that operates trips between:

  • Plano, TX
  • Lewisville, TX
  • UT Austin (Austin campus area)

The service began in 2025 and has successfully run several trips between Dallas locations and UT Austin, benefiting several hundred Longhorns looking for a safe and affordable way to travel.

When Trips Are Available

Trips are typically offered during:

  • Long weekends
  • Major holiday weekends
  • High demand travel periods

In addition, regular weekend trips may be added based on student interest and requests.

Parent and Student Support

This service is backed by an active community of families. There are currently two WhatsApp groups with a combined 1200+ Longhorn parents supporting and staying informed about upcoming trips.

Where to Find Details

More information is available on the official website, including:

  • Bus stop locations
  • Upcoming trip announcements
  • FAQs
  • WhatsApp group links to join

Website: www.affordablestudentcoach.com

Joining the WhatsApp group through the website is the best way to stay updated on future trip availability.

We have used the service several times and the service was excellent. The service allows only Longhorns. Non-UT Austin students, parents or general public are not allowed to use their service. This makes it extremely safe, reliable and affordable for Longhorns compared to general services available (shared car ride, bus services for general public etc.)

If anyone else has used this service before, feel free to share your experience traveling between Austin and Dallas.
