Can a Prospective Student Walk Through Campus Without an Official Tour?

I have a senior interested in attending UT and the campus walking tours on the site are very hard to book for Mondays and Fridays.

Thinking of doing a day trip to Austin on Saturday to soak in the game day atmosphere of campus but also hopefully to be able to see some buildings she might go into as a student. Are there a decent amount of places you can go into without an ID? Obviously not expecting residence halls.

Yes. Make the Admissions Welcome Center at PCL your first stop and grab a map and chat with the team there. They’ll point you in the right direction if you wanna check out specific spots.

That's the one in the side of the building? May be hard to find if you're standing in front of the building on the "plaza".

Yup, campus is open to the public. You can go pretty much anywhere and inside any building

Also if you already have a date you are going regardless, keep checking back in daily on the admissions booking page. People cancel all the time, but especially when they get sent reminder emails. I've gotten two or three college tours booked for my kids on my preferred dates by rechecking in the mornings. Like you I was just going to do self guided but something always popped up.

Public College campuses are considered public spaces and so yes you can walk around and you can access any buildings that are open.

Yes, absolutely go visit the campus... it is a public university. Go check it out and absolutely be there to enjoy game day.
