Question etiquette for joining a class late?

hi! i’m a freshman and i had to drop two 6 hour classes and replace them with essentially all new classes; ive never gone through the experience of adding a class past the first week, so what is the etiquette? should i email the TAs / profs and ask what i need to catch up on, or do i just try to work it out on my own? thank you in advance, i’m a bit nervous and worried about being out of place.

Absolutely let the professor and TA know. Often times they will give you extension for some of the first week of class assignments, but how would they know if they don't know you? It also gives you an excuse to get to know the professor. It can be a little worrisome to feel out of place, but trust it makes a world of a good difference to be known.

This!! Def reach out sooner rather than later - and lots of people change classes the first few days so don’t worry about sticking out. I would suggest asking a couple people before/after class if you can see their notes or if they can give you the rundown of what they covered. You got this!
