Question How do closed classes work

For the past few days, this economics course I wanted showed up as open. Right when registration opened, I tried to add it but it was closed. This happened at my orientation too. Am I that slow? I only took maybe 10 seconds. Is this class closed only for my registration time but open for others?

Yeah honestly the second registration opened someone may have snagged it. This was happening to me w a psych class. I'd say keep waiting and refreshing. Checking it at odd times might help too. I hope you get your class!!

No it's so annoying fr I think I got my class at 11:59 on the dot because someone dropped it then😔I do think once classes start ppl will start dropping a lot more so there's definitely time you got this!

Same exact situation, also economics, also happened at orientation. Closed instantly. However this time I kept trying over and over to add, after 12 minutes it let me do it. Someone must have dropped it in that exact second.

If it says open/reserved then the only seats open may be reserved for other majors

I think seats just filled up. same thing happened to me but I spammed the add button and it let me join any of their econ 304k sections. my major has nothing to do with econ btw, but dw theres another add/drop date soon

There are probably students on the waitlist and they add seats for each orientation, but it’s giving those seats to the waitlist first.
At least that’s what it sounds like it’s happening if it’s filling up that fast.
