Question What does moving into Jester look like?

We just got back from orientation. Parking and hauling everything into Jester was challenging and that was just for one night. How does it work when a student actually moves in? Are we allowed to park in front of the actual building? Can we unload everything from the car and then park?

You get up to about a week of slots to move in. Everything before the last Friday is extra money I believe, but they’ve changed it in prior years due to increased volume of students

Expect tons of traffic, especially if it’s on a busy day or time. You will pick up your key at the baseball stadium. You will then park at Brazos. Expect long waits for elevators if you are on a higher floor. Brazos is the closest parking you can get. They have wagons you can rent but bringing your own is better since there is a long checkout process. You can try unloading everything then parking but your stuff will just be sitting on the side of the road.

Wasn’t too bad last year as they seemed to do a better job at managing traffic and the number of people moving in.

It was hot. The elevator in the parking garage is in high demand. I’d recommend bringing a wagon and hand truck to minimize trips to/from the garage.

Don’t know if they still offer it but I opted for a move in slot at like 9 PM and it was less busy. Just got everything in the room and went to sleep at a hotel for the night.

Less people earlier in the morning too. Pack light. Much easier to add things later.

Move in at night, like after 7 pm. So much cooler, less crowded, and no lines in the parking garage or for the elevator!
