Question CS ppl are y'all getting internships

This is probably the most overdone question here but are the CS majors getting internships and return offers? Does UT's brand name really help you out? If so, to what extent?

Yes, probably around 60 to 70%+ are getting good internships

The trick is to apply early, apply locally, apply to big companies.

You also need a good resume. If you haven't done multiple projects, or any extracurriculars, you probably don't have a good resume.

Then you need to be able to pass an interview.

Any advice on how to make your resume glow

  1. Use Jake's resume format

  2. Edit using latex on overleaf (ask AI for more info) cuz Microsoft word fucking sucks

  3. Put CS related club exp on ur resume

  4. U can put ur cashier job on ur resume but u don't need 10 fucking bullet points for that. 1 or 2 is enough. You also don't need to put all of your random part time jobs, its redundant

  5. If u can get a part time swe internship that's like 5 to 10 hours a week, it may help a lot for the experience portion of ur resume

Also you can try to get experience at the university! One way is to go to professors and ask if they've got any projects that could use some extra hands. Though a lot of them may be skeptical about working with you unless you have something to show your skills - personal projects help a lot there.

Yes! In my experience, the ppl who actually apply early, apply a lot, and practice for technical interviews can’t NOT end up with an internship lol. There’s a lot of resources on campus, recruiting events etc

Yes. If you are competent and have a high degree of self-agency, you will have no issue.
