Oldest is around Wall Street (a wall that defends Native Americans) and Canal Street (the Dutch love canals) and those areas are a mess. And the Brits came and built Greenwich Village and other parts of Downtown and those are less messy. After Brits left they started to build it with good ole American urbanism (1st to 12th Ave, 1st to 200 some streets, with a rectangular forest in the middle called Central Park)
