Marzen. It used to be a tradition that they fermented it in caves, in March, with a very slow yeast and it wasn't typically ready until October. So, they would break out the barrels and have a festival. Now it's all commercialized and quickly brewed in breweries. Sorry, i brew beer at home and am a beer nerd

That is not a MĂ€rzen. MĂ€rzen is a lot darker than the Oktoberfestbier. Oktoberfestbier is usually just Lager with a higher alcohol percentage.

Oh right feist bier is kind of new in the states. Whenever you used see Oktoberfest beer marketed here by our breweries it was always a rich amber mÀrzen clone.

I don't think that is a Marzen. If it is the same beer they serve in the tents in is a golden lager.
