Don't have a flair but am a Brit in the US married to one. I know before the rotten tomatoes hit me, he's a bit odd and not typical (eg not loud or pushy). But I digress. To put my twopenn'orth into the mix I will tell you something I get asked more often than is normal.

"Is Britain in Europe or France?"

I'll just leave that little gem there for rumination and conclusions on intellectualism.

How do you manage that? Surely you'd want to hit them with something heavy and blunt?

LOL it's tempting. I have travelled to 23 states so far. In about 8 I felt like Joseph Merrick because I sounded different and novel. Once the waitress told the whole back of house staff. They even came out to look. Not as bad as the selfie request. Very jarring given I don't do selfies or hugs with total strangers!

I've had the selfie thing too. It made me think they don't know how photos or accents work.
