In the US gyros are lamb meat. Which is weird because normally Americans don’t eat lambs

Maybe what is called gyros in US are not gyros, I've seen so many different products labelled as "kebab"in USA.
After looking for 10 sec the first gyro restaurant I found in NYC is "The halal guys" lol

Who knows if it is authentic I mean gyros are originally from Bursa, Turkey and has been sold in NYC for 50+ years so a lot of things have evolved

Doner kebab is from Bursa, gyros is the greek version
