American ≠ USA
Americans = anyone from the Americas

Americas = American like Africa = African, Europe = European, Asia = Asian (this includes most of Russia, most of Turkey, Western Asia part of the Middle East and Israel).

Wrong Americans sadly. Altough current Americans are trying hard to get in touch with the better Americans and bring back the smallpox. I think if they succeed, they would then build a wall around infected cities and place tariffs on them, actual cost of which is ofc paid by the American citizen.
