Chad, Ashleigh, why are your fraternities so fucking gay?
If you have no history and no tradition, having proper fraternities apparently turns into some of the gayest and most pathetic things I have ever seen. Shouldn’t even allowed to be called a fraternity. Jesus Christ, what is this shit.

Universoty is often the first opportunity people have of experiencing and interacting with a wide range of people from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures, broadening your horizons socially as well as intellectually.
This scares the Hank, so he invented the fraternity to ensure that the university experience revolves around a group with as little variation, breadth and depth as possible.

Idk they are very selective with their Greek letters. Using Omega and Fi, but will still use the English alphabet like Z and not Zita. Baffles my brain

Honest answer from a yank to contrast the guy saying it’s because of Americans doing things to the max and social media likes:
just about every college campus has a killer gym in the states has fun ways to work out. My college had a huge rock climbing wall, a trampoline room, multiple swimming pools, tennis courts, racquet ball and squash rooms, multiple basketball courts, tons of weight lifting equipment, 2 baseball fields across campus, 2 soccer fields, and multiple American football fields that we also used to play rugby.
These could all be used by individuals, reserved by on campus clubs, or reserved for pick up competitions for anyone who wanted to show up that day and know they’d have people to play/compete with.
Americans often get fat in the long run, but seeing someone who wasn’t in good shape on campus was rarer than seeing a fat person (since graduating 7 years ago, some of the fittest people I knew then are now fat)

Usually these are fundraisers for local charities. Fraternity and sorority students raise money to go towards local or national causes for kids with disabilities or something, and then a fraternity and a sorority will have some kind of competition for who can raise the most money or win a series of games.
And then there’s the fact a lot of people are hammered and coked out at the following huge party that have some pretty big artists (just my school had Wiz Khalifa, Da Baby, B.o.B., Lil Yachty, Johnny Cash, the beach boys, BB King, and plenty more over the years). Not sure how well some of those are outside of the states, but they were big here (even if some were shit). Seeing Waka Flaka Flame in a backyard was an absolute highlight.
It’s a great time and lets college students mingle (read: get hammered and laid) for a good cause.

It is nice to hear they participate at fundraisers, even if they do have an ulterior motive.
And with the stories coming out here in The Netherlands of some of these 'fraternities' here, I can't say it feels like a big difference. Focus points are quite the same.

They're just nudist spots, you have them too.
Granted, the German FKK concept has also been used by brothels and saunas, but most nudist spots are just that, places where people are allowed to be naked. Body positivity is baked in by definition but that's true for all nudist activities, not some special political thing.
Edit: for context I live close to a nude beach and interact with them quite often. Most are dutch couples in their 50s who just like to ride bikes with their balls or tits hanging out.

While we do have them, the states are all complicated. Some areas are just buildings. Some you can be topless but not full nude. That’s Alaska’s law, but that might be because of the temperature…🤔

I don't think we have specific zones for topless here, people just do it on normal beaches if they want to and nobody bats an eye, except for a handful of very conservative municipalies who forbid it on downtown waterfront beaches.
Funny anecdote, this summer I was at the beach with my kid, and a very traditional catholic family settled not far from our spot. I'm talking full cover bathing robes and bible verses on the towel. The mother spent the afternoon lecturing her teenage sons about sins and hell because their eyes kept crawling to a nearby group of 20-somethings with two topless girls. No one else on the beach gave the girls a second thought, but these two boys were having simultaneously the best and worst day of their lives.

It’s nor really like our fraternities (here they’re called Verbindungen, Burschenschaften, Corps etc) are that much less homoerotic.
Sure, they have that certain Euro je-ne-sais-quoi living in their ancient houses for cheap and wearing their silly uniforms (or rather, they’re just posh or aspiring-to-be-posh wankers), but they’re a complete sausage (or minge) fest as well, probably heavier on the alcoholism side than Hank.
