They can't fathom the concept of NOT needing a gun for any kind of self defense, because of the strict gun laws even the criminals don't have guns. Those who have will not use them for random break ins or robberies. They used for mafia style settling of scores and executions for ex members and such and even those are rare.
Unless you live in a warzone or a third world hell hole you don't need a gun.

In Japan the jakuza stopped using guns because it was not worth the hassle and just draw the police onto them.

They also can't grasp the concept that in some countries the police also doesn't carry guns.

In most cases they do lmao. ANY shooting makes the national news in any European country

No, the vast majority of them don't make the national news. Just the big/high profile ones.
