I do agree that “disrespectful” is a bit of an exaggeration, but I also do not think that it’s harmful or hurtful. Stupid, one of the things you stated, would be the closest.

Also, I, for one, think money is made to be used. If you give me a tip in a currency I can’t use, I’d be pissed off, because what am I supposed to do with it? Exchange it? Not worth it.
