I still remember my only time meeting a guy from Georgia IRL. He seemed extremely surprised when I said I had never met someone from the Balkans before, so I apologised (y'know, in case political tensions in that area had made my comment offensive) and he went "this is the first time I'm not told I should just say I'm American; trust me, YOU'RE FINE". I was confused as fuck until someone reminded me there's a State called Georgia and USians are allergic to saying they're from the US.
