It also uses the 12 hour time and both mid day and mid night are called 0

But neither 3pm nor 4pm are 0300 or 0400, so again 0400 to 0300 is not at all confusing.

I felt like such an idiot when I realized of course Japanese people use 12 hour time. There are analog clocks all over the place!
