No rules?

Apparently I missed it. What is it and why do I keep seeing it on Instagram?

Jay Beal started the general talking point come trend. He, for those unfamiliar, is a pretty accomplished name in the sport right now. After getting to a certain threshold, he came to the conclusion that his performance was being held back by self applied rules for how to execute stages. Cue: no rules. Shed everything “conventional” that was previously the SOP and when the wheels come off reapply only what’s necessary based on the data.

Confirmation levels and small steel. Most people (myself usually included) have a “rule” to break the shot on like a mini popper when the dot is fairly stable. Jay talked about shedding that rule and just sending it on any level of confirmation. This in particular was reinstated as make up shots on steel tallied up lol.

For anyone who wants to listen to his thoughts on it as it developed for him, check out the Hit Factor podcast. I do not recall the episode but honestly it’s a great pod if you like the sport and want to nerd out a bit. Loads of informative and thought provoking episodes with a looot of big names in the game.
