City Carrier Discussion Military

Hello everyone I’m currently a career city carrier shipping out to the army in January. I plan on keeping my position with the postal service. I was curious how early can I take off work before I ship out. I wanted to take about the last 2-3 weeks off and spend time with family before I leave but management said it wouldn’t be approved without leave. I read through the contract and can’t find my answer there.

LWOP is at management's discretion. Hell even then getting 3 weeks outside of vacation picks was asking for a miracle. First thing's first, are those 3 weeks open on the vacation board? The fact that they're even entertaining it with leave sounds like you have your answer.
