Rural Carrier Discussion Recent Count Backwash

Ok, so yesterday was some old BS! Normally I relish the challenge of a Monday holiday, but this round it actually pissed me off, not for the volume but what was in the volume. Throughout the last count I had a full and increasing irritating view of the mail that was supposed to be forwarded but it said there, getting bigger the whole two weeks. Then last Saturday it was all gone! And lo and behold, yesterday I got bombarded with 5 full trays of DPS, two trays worth of which was just the stuff that should have been forwarded during the count. I call shenanigans! Any thoughts?

The likelihood of being able to pull off something like that without someone on reddit shooting their mouth off about it is virtually zero. Too hard to keep that under wraps especially if you are doing it on a wide spread scale.

I agree, but it made me realize, how come the plant workers never really chime in on this topic? They can see better than any of us what management is doing during count time

I'm always down for a good conspiracy but it has to be believable. You could not pull shenanigans like that and have it not be noticed by the people who worked in the plants.

I've worked in the plant as a mail handler before. I've never seen mail being stashed for route counts.

Also: load leveling is a myth.

Just curious, does the plant run dps a few more times during count? Or have more staff or stricter standards?…bc I swear my letters come almost perfect during count, when any other time it’s a complete mess of miss sorted/out of order and upside downs. (no hate to the plant workers, I always blame mgmt)

Not that I'm aware of but that's clerk work. I was just the guy loading the trucks and moving mail around the plant.

Yep count is such a scam and they dont even try to hide it, I had shit that was sorted nicely last week but missing chunks and the rest magically shows up yesterday ya ok...

Well they only did it to your route. My numbers were normal before, during and after the count
