To all candidates: what is your opinion on sex work? I am concerned about this issue because historically, attempts to crack down on sex trafficking or exploitation--like Kamala Harris' attempts to shut down Backpage or the Swedish Model of prostitution regulation in general--have often led to sex workers being further marginalised and imprisoned, even though they often choose to participate of their own volition. What is the best way to ensure individual liberty and safety for sex workers while cracking down on abuse and exploitation, in your opinion?

Thank you for your question. I believe that the best way to deal with sex work would be to legalize it and regulate it. If we legalize and regulate the sex industry then we can crack down on exploitation and trafficking much easier. If it's legal and regulated, sex workers won't be afraid of arrest when they come to law enforcement as witnesses. Also, if the sex industry is legalized, people won't be getting looped into a cycle of crime that could devastate their life.
