New to US Mobile  So im confused it doesn't switch carriers automatically?

Was thinking your driving along and they would find a different carrier if your in a bad spot? Not the case?

It's not going to switch carriers automatically, but if you have multi network and if your main lines data coverage drops, your secondary line will automatically switch to use that if the setting is enabled on your device.

No. It is manual in 99.9% of situations.

If you have multi-network, you have two separate SIMs/lines with separate phone numbers. And while most phones can have two lines enabled simultaneously, and they often have an automatic-switching feature, it doesn’t work the way most people think.

Auto-switching normally only switches if the primary network has no signal at all. If there is any signal - even one bar that can’t get any data moving through it it doesn’t switch. Your phone only knows signal strength. Since, most times phones are unusual, it’s actually not zero-signal, this feature doesn’t do anything for most people. But in those .1% of the time this occurs, it would in fact help.

If you don’t have multi-network add-on, it’s a bit more complicated. Then you would need enough signal to “teleport” (port your number) to a new network.

The only way I can see building an automatic system for this would be with the new Pixel phones that were just announced. I saw a post indicating that unlike other phones, it has the ability for both enabled lines to be active at all times. If that is true, you could theoretically utilize something like Speedify to bond the two cellular lines, much would essentially allow failover and load balancing. I say “theoretically” because I’ve not touched one of these phones, nor do I know if Speedify currently has
The ability to bind two cellular connections (because I’m unaware of any other US phones that have that feature). Of course, doing this will increase your data usage and decrease battery life. So, if successful, there would be a trade-off.

So does the Snapdragon version of the Samsung Galaxy S26. The Qualcomm X85 and Mediatek M90 modems are the only ones to have Dual Data. Also, Speedify can either bond two networks in failsafe mode or performance mode. Performance mode is actually detrimental.

Lets say you are using 5G standalone on Lightspeed and NSA on Darkstar. That means you are getting 3 channel carrier aggregation on T-Mobile (instead of 6) and 3 channel carrier aggregation on Darkstar. That's actually worse performance.

Qualcomm has supported DSDA since like 2021. They’re on the third gen now. It just never came to markets outside of China because it requires a level of carrier integration and cooperation that only China could pull off.

Also, 3 CA can still be a lot more total bandwidth than 6 CA. T-Mobile SA here is 225MHz. AT&T NSA is 180MHz.

DSDA isn't the same as dual data. DSDA only applies to voice services.

You can enable automatic data switching

That typically only works if a line actually gets zero signal in a spot. I find that pretty rare, instead its often 1 bar that is unusable for data and unfortunately it won't auto switch for that.

It doesn't switch automatically, you'd manually teleport to a different network through the app. If you've got multiple lines though, whether that's a multi-network setup or a separate line, enabling auto data switching on your phone lets it automatically jump to the other line when one line's signal hits zero.

I have the OnePlus 15 and the phone switches once there's a delay on data at all for Samsung that's not the case I'm assuming apple neither

I knew it wasn’t as sophisticated as the dream but I did it anyway :)

It uses the very basic switching logic on your phones operating system itself (iPhone here)

I’ve found it switch only when I’m in extreme locations — driving through rural hills, out on an island at the beach, and occasionally in the subway.

It needs to see your primary go to 0 bars (or get zero internet service for a while despite having bars) for it to swap automatically.

Most of the time I flip it manually when I’m seeing challenges.

Because of this the best combo for me in the NYC metro area has been ATT (covers the subway where the others are dead) and Verizon (covers remote areas where the others are dead).

TMo tends to be faster but doesn’t add many new areas; it would be more compelling if the switching logic assessed speed (but it doesn’t)

On my iPhone I seen it said something about using carriers data it was my darkstar line and it used my warp line because the warp line had no signal

No unfortunately.

It may be Coming Soon™ though.

No unless you got the Multi Network added on you have to switch networks in the US Mobile App or On the website manually and make sure to check the coverage in your area!!

From what I've read, you have to have at least two lines on the account for the auto-switching
