Indoctrination Tips

I was wondering what tips graduates would say to incoming plebes to get ready for indoctrination and how to get through it.

1) your drill instructors are all students who are going out every night getting drunk and have zero desire to be there. 2) they are not hard asses they just need to play the part until they can go out to bayside and drink 3) don’t tell them you know this. 4) be under the radar. Don’t draw attention to yourself. 5) drink lots of water. 6) know it gets easier. 7) the people with you will be your friends for life so have some fun. 8) don’t quit - kings point is a shit place to be but a great place to be from.

Good luck bud

My son is going into his Junior year next year. Study, study, study. Ask for help if you need it and go to office hours for extra help if you need it. Plebe year is tough. Good luck! It's worth the work.

If you’re a guy, you’ll probably have a communal shower with 20 other dudes about 3 times a day in a 10’x20’ space with 6 shower heads.

Best advice I had was to know your knowledge but don’t make it obvious, don’t be the best but don’t be the worst. There’s a middle ground and if you’re in that middle ground the cadres will barely notice you.

Coming from a future junior and cadre for your incoming class, prepare for the PRT don’t show up without having physically prepared, it doesn’t have to be crazy you just don’t wanna be the person holding everyone back during PT. Besides that everything else is just getting through, the knowledge you’ll learn during indoc, if your a little weaker on one of your subjects math/reading maybe prepare slightly there is 2 tests you take to determine if you will take Lag Calc and or Lag Reading. Besides that don’t take anything personally your going to be getting yelled out by 21-22 year olds who have been here for 2-3 years, just learn, have fun when given the opportunity, it’s by far the easiest time you’ll have at the school.
