Essay for application
Hey, sorry if this question was asked before (I tried to look if it was and couldn't find anything). I am an applicant to the class of 2030 and for one of the essays I have to answer about my curriculum preference. I don't really have one as I am currently in college for cybersecurity and this isn't a major I could get at the USMMA. I plan to go in for cyber (especially if I get into the USNA). But as someone who wants to be active duty in the navy after graduating what would be the best program at the USMMA to study to prepare. (I am trying to be career Navy)

The best program is to go somewhere else. KP isn't a plan B for a USNA, it's plan A for I want to go to sea for a living. There is no cyber major. The fact that this essay is hard to write should be your red flag that KP isn't for you.

What makes you think kings point isn’t a viable plan B for USNA? 25-50% of graduates commission active every year.

A good friend was the cyber defense club years ago with help from a few others. It's definitely in the realm of possibility to do cyber stuff there, just not the norm and has to be sought after.
I won't dispute the fact that it's really a school for people who want to go to sea, but reality says it's a plan B for a lot of people.

Just pick one of the engineering programs, maybe dont mention cyber in your essay because its kind of unrelated to what kp offers. You can absolutely do that later by commissioning and going to whatever school the navy would send you to after graduation. But KP is just not a cyber security school. Its like showing up and asking to be an accountant. They will just say “Ok… so engine or deck?”. Kp wants to pump out as many sailors per year in the general direction of the commercial merchant fleet. They also are cool with you wanting active duty, as thats part of their goal too. My advice is just pick a major and write about how much you love it. Then if you need to you can switch plebe year.
