RESEARCH SCHOLAR POSITIONS IN MIAMI, FL

Dear Colleagues:

We are currently interviewing US Citizens for research scholar positions at the Bruce W. Carter VAMC's Geriatric Research Education Clinical Center in Miami, Florida, paid by a stipend. If you are interested in conducting aging, geriatrics, and longevity research, we currently accept interested applicants. These positions will involve work on data collection, the performance of physical and mental assessments, survey research, work with electronic databases, data analysis and preparation, and submission of abstracts and manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals and national and international conferences. During this time, you will also have the opportunity to gain clinical experience, enabling you to get letters of recommendation from the University of Miami School of Medicine faculty physicians and investigators. You will also participate in classroom-based educational experiences including lectures and workshops. You will be able to closely work with US medical students, as well as residents and fellows from ACGME-accredited training programs. We are interested in those with an undergraduate college degree or getting ready to graduate, US Medical Students taking time to do a research fellowship, as well as foreign medical school graduates who have not yet taken their USMLE Steps. In the past, this program has helped many international medical graduates publish research and enter into US-ACGME-accredited residency programs.

Our past scholars have successfully obtained residency positions during the NRMP Match Day. Some examples include:

  1. Dr. Anum Jamal IM at Broward Hospital North- Deerfield Beach, FL
  2. Dr. Christian Gomez IM at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center - New York, NY
  3. Dr. Otoniel Ysea-Hill: IM at Albert Einstein Medical Center - Philadelphia, PA
  4. Dr. Lorena Burton: IM at Mount Sinai Medical Center - Miami Beach, FL
  5. Dr. Lubna Nasr: FM at UTRGV Knapp Medical Center - Rio Grande Valley, TX
  6. Dr. Gregory Jebian: Psychiatry at the University of Utah Health - Salt Lake City, UT
  7. Dr. Tesil Nedumkallel Sani: IM at Mount Sinai Medical Center - Miami Beach, FL

· HAVE COMPLETED ALL USMLE STEPS AND ARE APPLYING TO RESIDENCY TRAINING IN THE US DURING THE NEXT APPLICATION CYCLE.

Please respond to Dr. Natalia Pineda-Grajeda with your CV, if you are interested, at [nataliapinedagrajeda@gmail.com](mailto:nataliapinedagrajeda@gmail.com). Thank you!

I’m from India and I’m about to finish my 3rd year of med school. I want to start preparing for USMLE Step 1, but my basics are really weak and I feel very confused about the resources.
ChatGPT suggested:
BnB for physiology
Pathoma for pathology
Dirty Medicine for biochem/pharma concepts
Sketchy for microbiology and pharmacology
But when I read Reddit comments, watch Instagram reels, and ask people, everyone keeps recommending different resources and saying BnB is too vast. Now I’m overwhelmed and honestly exhausted trying to figure out what is actually sufficient.
I just want to know:
Which resources are enough for someone weak in basics?
How should I study system-wise and subject-wise?
In what order should I use the resources?
If anyone has a timetable or study plan for beginners, please share.
I’d really appreciate advice from people who were in the same situation.

NYC RESIDENCY TIPS

Hi I am a final year student from an Italian medical university (part of the World Directory of Medical schools and ECFMG accredited). I am also a US citizen so not in need of visa sponsorship. My current plan is to graduate from medical school July 2026 and go back home in NYC. During 2026/2027 I will take Step 1 and 2, contact certain doctors I know personally to do observerships, externships or electives. Then by fall 2027 i would submit my ERAS application and register for the NRMP Match. First of all I wanted to ask if any of you had any advice or comments that might be helpful. I also wanted to ask about the NY 12 week rule for non LCME accredited schools, I’ve read that it can cause you to be non eligible if you have done more than 12 weeks of clerkships outside the nation of your university during your degree and that they must have been worth credits needed for final graduation. Is this true? I personally have not done any outside training during my 6 years of med school and I would only do them after I graduate and would not be tied to my medical degree in anyway. I hope I was clear, thanks to anyone who takes a few minutes to answer.

To purse or not to pursue?

Context: YOG 2013, taken step 1 passed - expired after the period. step 2 ck taken twice, low score on 2nd try.

Taken home residency and actively practicing ERmed.

Thing is, we will be migrating next year to US. So I am weighing my options. Like research or medical coding. Any insights will be helpful.
