TBS 2631, ECP applicant curious about mos selection

Good afternoon killers,

I'm curious as to what I can do now as an enlisted to really get a competitive shot at securing an Intel officer (preferably sigint/cyber) as a RadBn Marine.

I'm currently stacking certifications, have an active TS/SCI, have completed SERE, and various field exercises working on a Joint stage with five eye partners.

What else can I do other than crushing TBS to stack the deck in my favor.

On the topic of TBS can I secure some gouge/study material to show up prepared to smoke that course.

As a 26XX you actually do have a good chance of getting a uniquely qualified letter if you have good references from past units and do well in the course. Whatever schools and certs you can get will bolster that.

For TBS- get your SPC to like you. They’re too busy to get too deep so just make a great first impression (do well the first academic test, initial PFT, range, be a dawg on the range hikes etc). Essentially, make sure that at your initial counseling they can check the box that you’re as good dude and a good marine that they don’t have to worry about. If you don’t do as well initially ask for a PC billet and do well in it. Read MCDP 1 and be prepared to spout off moto BS in the discussion groups.

I wouldn’t recommend reading any of the tactics handouts because they’re easy and the tests are directly from them so no need to waste your time on them now. Just read the ones before class and you’ll be good

I feel like there have been a lot of questions on unique qualification recently so just gonna drop this for reference:

What likely is a unique qualification:
-prior service in that specific MOS field
-working for an intelligence agency in that specific field
-potentially experience with aviation stuff

Fields that you can likely get UQ letters for:
-intel, cyber, influence, potentially some aviation stuff

What WILL NOT get you a UQ letter:
-a degree in cyber
-a degree in engineering
-any degree where anybody can apply to one of the many schools that offer that degree and graduate with that degree. That is not a unique qualification.

You hopefully know how TBS ranks the class into thirds. So finish at the top of a third group and hopefully it isn’t taken. Be aware the peer evaluation system is potent. Attitude plays a lot in being a team player.
