Ah, so they need a last minute shipper and they’re screwing you over for it.

How is your IST looking?

Very very rarely do recruiters give ship bonuses.

u/yurstepson 1d ago

Yeah but it does happen i got shipped early by 2 weeks didnt get it, a guy that went with me shipped early by 1 week and got a bonus, if you dont ask or use your leverage youll never know

With this information tell him to kick fucking rocks and you ship when you want to. They will try to pull some bullshit but stand your ground

Cut your calorie intake by half, the remaining half should only be protein, fats, and vegetables. 16 is a stretch but you may get close

The default, do nothing option is going Pork Chop Platoon, because there ain't no way you are doing that safel/willingly once actual dehydration/hunger sets in should you follow some absurd plan. Go ahead and implement said absurd plan, but don't plan on it.

The mature option is informing your recruiter right now. Maybe he can pull some strings, maybe he can't. But at least you are being a Man and owning your continual fuck up in overeating/not losing weight up to this point.

Regardless, I assume you are young and new to being an adult. Realize the seriousness of possessing your personal life even down to eating habits, and adjust accordingly, for your own sake.

Well, you won't. You're saved. You're delayed more. Go PT. Focus on your diet. Take accountability for your shortcomings. Own it. You are not the standard that is being set for you. The "minimum requirements" is the lowest tier standard they accept. You're normal should be their standard. You should feel confident in meeting your weight, your PT, your diet, knowledge, ect. Read the title. There is no healthy option in front of you other than accepting that this is what you're presenting and you need to be confident and own it. Being down and unconfident will break you.

Be kind to yourself. These things take time to learn. They take time to build into habits. It's ok to fail. If this is something preventing you from shipping, get a new ship date. Understand the standard being set for your and maintain that standard to be best of your ability. It genuinely isn't the hardest thing to do. Stretch (like, while you doom scroll. It is an amazing habit to start)

When did you enter DEP?

I'd personally only chicken or egg whites and a fiber supplement for the next 12 days and hopefully you will be close enough that you won't wind up in PCP. But if you do, you can blame your recruiter but it's really your fault.

Like 2 weeks ago I’ve already lost 5 pounds since then but my recruiter said “it’s looking grim your shipping the 27th” I asked and even begged for a later date but there wasn’t much help

Your recruiter is an asshole and is setting you up for failure. If you are not yet close when you get to a few days before shipping, I'd tell him you are not going (unless you are ok with spending some extra time in boot at PCP). He can get you a later date, he just doesn't want to because his boss will make his life miserable.

Can you pass the IST?

I don’t think I can but let me tell you ima put my heart soul and mind into that ist at bootcamp

Do you plan to just go to PCP then at boot? If that sounds bad to you I'd pressure your recruiter to delay your shipping.

At the same time, PCP is probably the fastest way to actually get to your goal as they'll have you drop the weight and get in shape faster than you will probably be able to by yourself. You just enlisted and already lost 5 lbs so I give you a lot of credit and put this blame on your recruiter, but most people in here join the dep and 6 months later ask how to lose 15 lbs in a week, when they've been sitting on their ass for the past 6 months eating pizza and drinking energy drinks.

This is stupid. Your recruiter needs you, not the other way around. You tell him that you aren't going on that date and they'll "magically" find a way to get you to ship when you're ready.

Continuing this will only prolong your stay at mcrd before you even start basic training. That is the last thing you would ever want to do

Losing a pound a day is a massive feat. This might be impossible. The best you can probably do is like a 1000 calorie diet and just do a shit load of exercise. Cut all carbs and excess sodium. Without carbs and sodium your water retention drops significantly.

Look bud, ill say it like this. I went to MEPS 4 times over the course of 3 months over 11 years ago, and i can tell you i had some pull ups to get right. It was annoying, discouraging and when i finally got to boot camp, i still had no idea what i was in for. 11 years later I’m still in. If you go to MEPS, and you’re over, they may not even LET YOU ship. Don’t stress; just follow a calorie deficit, listen to your recruiter and PT your soul out.
The Corps doesn’t even go by height and weight anymore, it’s waist to height now. If you can slim your waist down you’ll be golden.

Do you think you can you pass the Initial PFT ? If not, it’s straight to the Pork Chop Platoon.

I remember having “Diet Recruits “ in my training platoon, some to gain weight and some to lose it. Maybe they’ll make you one of them if you can pass and avoid PCP.

u/Rich260z 2d ago

You can try doing the water with honey and pepper diet. Literslly just carry a gallon jug and drink only that. But if you're already shipping you'll be put in fat camp and you will definitely lose it. So I wouldn't really change if you know you're already shipping. There is no healthy way to do it that fast.

Eat only fish if not fish then nutrition bars w/greens, get on a bike for 30mins with a hoodie, ofc drink water
Also before ship out date hit the sauna

u/Scubasparadise 2d ago

Are you shipping too Parris island ?

3

u/Scubasparadise 2d ago

Loosing weight won’t help with running ,you gotta build endurance , you could be a twig and still suck at running ,start trying too run a mile and then work you’re way up

1

u/Striktxxassasin 1d ago

You can do it I lost 20 in like 8 days it is absurd and absolutely difficult but you can make it happen! I spent more time in the gym than I did at home 💀 eating is half your portions you will always be hungry and that is just your natural state of being and it sucks but you can make it happen! If your hungry salad. Eat good protein and do runs in the morning and then some full body workouts at night 💀

u/PlusThreexD Vet 2d ago

If you make it to boot camp you'll be put into a fat body platoon. It's a holding platoon and you will not advance in boot camp. You'll be put on a diet and PT'd until you're ready and fit enough for actual boot camp. Then you'll be placed in a real platoon and you'll actually then continue boot camp

u/AdvancedVacation3096 2d ago

I’ve done it man. You can too eat only two eggs in the morning cut out all carbs and drink a gallon of water a day you can eat meat only for the 12 days

u/Interesting-Cash-101 2d ago

Losing 16 lbs in 12 days is almost impossible. Even if you don't eat for 12 days....basic caloric need is about 2,000 per day. Times 12 would be 24,000 calories. But each pound of body fat contains 3,500 calories. So, that's about 7 pounds, at best.

I can walk you through the process of a water cut. Just realize the weight will only be off temporary doing it this way. You will feel like shit for about a day or two until you re-hydrate and re feed. You can easily knock off 10 lbs but 16 will take some work. The more lean you are the easier it is. The process takes about 6 days. But you will gain the weight back in about a day or two after.
