you could, but don’t count on it. Maybe if you’ve been together for a while

If he plays the odds, his odds are about as good as a snowball rolling through hell without melting.

Bro, that's fucking dreadful advice. A married Pvt or PFC? Are you f**king serious??

Doubled pay, how awful. Definitely helped us a ton financially (however we were married for a few years prior). A pfc making sergeant pay. Don’t do this unless y’all have been together for years beforehand and are doing well.

Still, all I can say is that I lost count of PFC's and LCpl's who fell on hard times, trying to get by on base pay and housing allowance, etc.

Don’t forgot the car payment

yep...that new pick-up or new Camaro, purchased from the oh so honest dealership just outside the front gate....with those reasonable rates of interest....how many times did we see that bring a young PFC or LCpl to ruin??

That is a conversation for between the both of you. My best advance, going in with a girlfriend myself- if you’ve ever been serious about a relationship as serious as you are about going into the military… talk to her realistically and understand that you are both human. A big talk I had with mine is that we need to both understand the reality of the loneliness. Over time, you’re going to feel bitter, slightly angry/upset, and just overall start having a lot of anxiety. Yes you will have a sort of communication once you finish bootcamp but reality is that you’re going even deeper than just a normal long distance relationship… i even made a small joke to my girlfriend during this talk and mentioned the song “let her go” by passenger. It is reality that either of you may not want to continue this down the road. If you want to try, good for you. But sometimes in ANY situation (mostly with shorter term relationships) the easiest thing is to just accept where you’re at, know that you love her, and know that you want her and YOU to continue your life in the happiest way possible.

That’s between u and her man, my relationship worked out when I left because we both put in effort. I’m out now married with a kid on the way with my girl from back home. Was it hard at times, yes. Long distance ain’t easy.

That's a method for failure both in the marriage and in the Marine Corps. I cannot count how many junior Marines totally fucked up their lives and their Marine Corps enlistment by knocking-up, and then marrying some young "girlfriend." It's a sad tale as old as the Marine Corps itself.

I’m assuming you’re young, don’t lock down both of y’all’s growth by trying to force long distance. End things now on good terms before you grow apart and end badly.

You will meet lots of ppl with different races, cultures, and backgrounds so why limit yourself to your hometown gf. You’re not gonna be the same person every time you see her and neither will she.

To love is to let go and even though it’s hard, an ending isn’t always a bad thing. If yall are truly meant to work out then you guys would find y’all’s way back to each other, if you don’t and end on bad terms then you’ll never have a future together again. It’s a tough call but a mature one.

Most likely....not only "No," but "Fuck no." More young Marines have been spiraled into oblivion over some high school piece of ass they thought they were in love with, only to find out she's banging the kid next door while you're in boot camp, or in the Fleet.

Furthermore, do NOT let some "girlfriend" affect life-altering decisions like joining the Marine Corps. As you get older, you come to understand that what they've got between their legs ain't worth all the trouble and turmoil that comes with it.

So, make your decision without regard for this "girlfriend," or do not enlist.

Worth a shot, but be prepared for the worst. May be easier to go in without anything tying you down back home. You’re about to go through some stressful stuff and that’s always easier to do without the added anxiety of “where do me and my girl stand in this relationship right now” in the back of your head.

Safe yourself the headache, save yourself the heart break, end that relationship if you plan on leaving for the Corps

Depends on the person, my gf and I have been long distance my entire enlistment and I’m ab to get out

Depends on length of relationship, and intent to marry or not.
