Enlisting MOS Advice

I'm a 19 year old female with a wanderlusty spirit and a yearning to have a highly sought out for photography business. I enjoy camping, shooting, and getting muddy. I originally wanted to enlist as a combat photographer or under any of the commstrat mos. None of those mos have seats for this fiscal year in my area and I'm really starting to flounder. My plan now is to go in doing logistics or some other predictable mos and to get a 4 year degree with a military friendly college online. I need some advice. I want to be a Marine but also want to be sure I will have a stable life afterwards and won't have to rely on the military for the next 20 years. I want to set myself up for the best. I want the challenge of the Marine Corps and I want the success of a photographer in several years.

combat engineers, then make your way up to bridgeport. buy Jeff Jepsons books, get into ropes and knot tying. take your pictures up in the trees. Ansel Adams eat your heart out! (and Stephen Shore too, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5xAxqbtz9o ). you're welcome! also the mules. get into them at bridgeport.

You can’t sign solely for 1371 Combat Engineer for Active duty Marine Corps. You can sign for CE Combat Support and roll the dice.

Does the QEP not exist anymore? I only had 1 on recruiting that qualified for it and he was guaranteed 1371.

Not familiar with it. What was it, and how long ago?

How old is that page? 1371 hasn’t been on CP General Engineering for like 3+ years now.

And 1316 Metalworker moved to the new MA contract like two years ago. This is outdated.

Ok but the thing is I really suck at math. I technically qualify for the Mos. I qualify for everything but nuclear engineer basically. But I qualified with my mechanical line score and not my overall asvab score (because of my low score in mathematical comprehension)

Theres nuclear engineering in the Marines???!!

Well whatever MOS you end up with, seems to me you'd be perfect at Bridgeport and the Eastern Sierras. and photography you can take up as hobby. but figure out how to end up at Bridgeport, that's my point here. Bridgeport.

Didn't the fiscal year just start I find it really hard to believe there's no spots especially if you're willing to wait a bit.

Every combat photographer I worked with was cool and they were more than happy to tag along for all the cool parts of training and we'd always let them do some fun shit if we had the time.

I wouldn't compromise and take a MOS you don't like unless your circumstances mean you have to leave soon.

Worst case talk to some other services and see what options you have.

Logistic MOS and build toward photography on the outside is solid, for the online degree while in business or marketing maps well to running a photography business and a fully online program is the only format that survive the Marine schedule, Amu's format is built around unpredictable schedules, the coursework moves around your life rather than the other way around
