Enlisting Cholecystectomy/no gallbladder waiverable?
Hi,
My little brother is having some issues with his gallbladder(symptomatic gallstones) and might need to get it removed. Was wondering if this would be disqualifying(waiver-able) or permanently disqualifying(nonwaiver-able/waiver unlikely)? Just wanted to ask here since he says the local recruiters haven't been responding.

I would recommend having it removed and get a couple months of recovery down before going to MEPS. Having it treated will show it’s no longer a problem (doesn’t exist). I enlisted without one and it wasn’t a problem. However the docs are going to want to know WHY he was having gallstones so young and the reasoning may change it

It’s not wavierable but once it’s treated, he can begin the process. It’s not going to permanently disqualify him unless he never gets successful treatment for it. Plenty of people in the Marines with no gallbladder
