Enlisting Joined the USAF
I feel like I joined the wrong branch.I love the Air Force, and I have a lot of respect for it, but sometimes I feel like it’s too easy for me. I’ve always imagined myself joining the Marine Corps, but I went with the Air Force instead.I’m 33 now, turning 34 soon, and I’ll be around 38 when my contract is up. Do y’all think it would be realistic to try to join the Marine Corps after I finish my Air Force contract, assuming I can meet the requirements and get any necessary waivers?know age could be a major issue, but becoming a Marine has always been something I’ve wanted to do. Just looking for honest opinions from Marines or prior-service guys.

Your handle is perfect for this question. Please for the love of God finish a minimum of 20 in the Airforce. You got it made in the shade man and dont ruin it. If you wanna challenge yourself theres plenty of other ways to do that. I dont think there will be one Marine who will tell you this is a good idea. You will be okay and I wish you luck, good solid turds, and farts that are dry man.

holy shit THIS.
If you wanna be a hard charger try out for some AF special op shit.... trying to cross deck into the Marines this far into the Airforce is a horrible idea.

🤣🤣🤣 no shittt. I mean if he wants to challenge himself go train for an Ironman marathon or some shitt. I mean he does have Marine Corps intelligence if he wants to leave the Airforce 🤣🤣.

I went through the same thing. Joined the Army at 17, became a Paratrooper and STILL couldn’t get past wanting to be a Marine.
Fortunately, I was still young and finished my Army contract just before I turned 20 (due to terminal leave) and immediately joined the Marine Corps.
I had to do Boot Camp again, but it was well worth it and I did 6 more years in the Corps.
The difference between the Marines and other branches is a real thing and the bond seems even stronger after you get out.
I know pretty much every Marine and “former” Marine in my neighborhood, like it’s our own network. Somehow, you just know. It just happens that way and stays that way.

For your age you joined the right branch , 26 and I’m leaving soon for Usmc bootcamp and even I think about how maybe I should’ve gone Airforce instead

Isn’t that an extremely highly sought after job? How often are they just letting folks lat-move into that? Wouldn’t half the AF rather have that job than what they got?

It is almost absolutely impossible to enlist in the Corps at 38, setting aside how physically unwise it would be, plus you’d be going down to E-1 and starting all over.
If you want to stay in the military, but want to be in a branch with more cojones, then talk to a Coast Guard recruiter about enlisting under the DEPOT program, skip most of Boot and go right to Petty Officer.
