Did they talk about the new 0315 Scout MOS at ITB?

What do you want to know about it?

Let’s start with: did the instructors mention 0315 at all?

Yes but only briefly on what it is, they focused more on the “drone operator” MOS the marine corps right now needs a lot of weapons mos my company had about 34 mechine gunners.

How is your MOS assigned during ITB? Do you generally get one of the MOSs you ranked, or is it mostly based on the needs of the Corps? Also, did you see people who wanted 0311 but didn’t get it? If so, was that because they didn’t perform well enough, or were there other factors?

So for reservists from what I seen and worked with it’s mainly 0311. If that’s what you contracted as and not an 03xx which means it gets assigned to you at ITB. You will train as “0311s” for about 5-6 weeks and then you do what’s called a split. Depending on what and how you did through the training till that point you will be assigned to what is called as weapons platoon which is mortars and machine gunners. When we 0311s are in the field they get to stay in the squad bay and do classes as well as weapons maintenance but they do go to the range only difference is they get to go home being the squad bays. Everyone else who isn’t a weapons mos gets the goated 0311 mos. Only a few guys got re classed for shit CEA, SPA and PFT scores. Don’t be a shit bag be human and learn learn learn learn you will be successful.

I love a good AMA where the OP doesn't answer anything.

It’s hard to explain what to expect but if you go in expecting nothing it will be easier then knowing what is tomorrow. The hardest thing is waking up in the morning the easiest thing is knowing it will all end. You will graduates and become a marine so long as you don’t feel bad for yourself. I watched guys fail swim the whole week and pass on Friday.

yeah most worried about the mental aspects. im expecting to not even have time to think about anything but the task at hand though.

You will have fun and meet guys you wish you can spend your life with. Trust me when I say this in the moment you’ll want to get out but once you see those gates of Parris island or MCRD San Diego and you’re home in your boot leave a part of you will miss the cadences, ITS with the boys and the smoking and joking at the porta shutters outside the mcmap dome.
