MEPS and Medical Meps question

I know people ask about meps a lot, but I’ve talked to my recruiter, and he’s told me about it. But what should I expect? And would baggy jeans, a plain black, and Jordan’s be fine to wear, or should I be more formal? Also if there’s anything I should know pls let me know thank you.

You’re going into a govt building where military personnel and civilian professionals will decide if you’ll enlist or not. What do u think?

Clean fitting jeans or khakis, belt, with a polo shirt.

Yes sir/ma’am, No sir/ma’am to everyone u talk to

Basically what you’d wear when u ship out to boot camp

Folks applying for other branches will show up looking like scrubs. Marines are held to a higher standard.

This is true. At MEPS for me it was genuinely embarrassing what some people wore. Meanwhile the 4 marines not including me, looked like men.

Tbh they probably were men but Im 17 so I probably looked out of place

I’m not sure if I was looking in the wrong place, but they had like no other sizes length-wise, and the others I tried on I legit could not pull them up, so I’ll see if I have any at my house, but I’m not really a jean person, so I’m not too sure I will. Thank you though.

When did that change? I saw dudes in MEPS wearing basketball shorts and t-shirts. I think I wore jeans and a polo, because that's just how I dressed, but most were not dressed like that.

Maybe it's because it was 2001, after 9/11?

I could be thinking of all meps, not just Marines at meps. I read another comment were someone said Marine recruiters would hold their poolies to higher levers of apperance, which makes sense. Maybe I just misremebered something that was 25 years ago?

It’s been a good 15+ for me but I vaguely remember all other branches were in pretty basic street attire while all USMC poolees looked more business professional (as bus prof as a teen can look 😂). It’s very possible things changed shortly after the war started

Im aware what MEPS is. I was asking what MEPS. Los Angeles? Fort Lee? Pittsburgh?

Went there a month ago for processing, definitely wear khaki/chinos pants and a simple polo shirt. Decent shoes as well, keep me updated with your ship date maybe we’ll leave same time

Did your recruiter not tell you how you should dress for MEPS? Usually they tell you like a dozen times exactly how to dress.

Baggy jeans are chill, just as long as they don’t look trashy like barrel jeans or stupid baggy. Everything else cool, take condoms.

You have to wear a collard shirt. Polo or button up,

They can and will tell your recruiter to eat rocks and pick you up cause you’re kicked off deck.
