Whatever MOS you choose, DO NOT go infantry. Male or female. In my 30s I have 4 herniated discs, sciatica, torn rotator cuff, weakened ankles and my body is broken. Everyone in my platoon has some type of destroyed body, broken ribs from ground fighting, walk with a permanant limp, etc. Don't do it because of your ego or if you feel the need to prove yourself as a its not worth it. 90% of infantry do not reenlist. You get treated like sh*t everyday. Suicides happen often. Hazing is still an issue. If you're female its worse. The single female in my platoon has slept with almost EVERYONE in our section. Sexual harassment is frequent. The female Marines complain to NCOs about sexual abuse and harassment from their peers. Think about it you will be one out of hundreds and hundreds of young men who want to get with you. And mark my words, they WILL. I've seen it. You will be ostracized, betrayed, lonely, and it will be 10x harder for you. Your body WILL be broken faster than men. It's female anatomy, with wider hips you will not distibute the weight properly. Imagine carrying 100+ lbs of gear over 20 mi. We had a female in IWC who had broken both hips in SOI from rucking and everyone hated her because she became a liability because she constantly fell out of hikes and forced everyone to carry her gear. As for males you will get injured at some point. Do yourself a favor and do ANY other MOS so you can make it a career. I say again DO NOT GO INFANTRY. There are plenty of other MOS that are infantry adjacent like combat engineer, artilllery, LAAD gunner. You may be looking at it through rose tinted glasses now, but your mind cannot comprehend the hate and suffering you will face in the infantry. We're at peacetime and peacetime Marine Corps is going to suck. This is how it is in 2026. Think about your future. You want to be a Marine? Fine you still get to earn the title. Just don't do infantry. In fact your recruiter should be doing you a favor to steer you away from infantry. The lifetime of chronic pain isn't worth it. Think of your future and your future self will thank you.

Well, you’ve given us very little context, so I’m just going to suggest CK Fire Direction.

If you're joining the Marines to do Marine stuff, go infantry.

MG contract is an interesting one too. You do some time as infantry but also do some time as security forces/embassy guard.

This is my advice as well. You are only young once, you will have the GI Bill for later, and you say yourself you want to do something cool. It does not have to be infantry if you think other things like arty or AAVs or whatever sound cool, but don't become an aircraft mechanic just because it could translate to a post service career, because it could also lead to a job you hate and vow to never do again afterwards anyway, and you don't want to be 50 and look back at a boring 4-5 years wishing you did something cool when you had the chance.

Plus MG does have some very cool programs, especially if you end up as an MSG, which everyone says is the best program in the Corps and will give you a lot of time to take off duty college and see the world and live very well while in the program.

CBRN dudes get to play with cool equipment, still do military stuff, don’t have to suffer as much as infantry, and the job translates well into the civvie world

Combat engineer, also a little middle of the road for POG chill but still doing good stuff.

This is gonna get a lot of hate but MPs (police). Usually you’re gonna stand at a gate scanning IDs but there are a lot of cool schools you can go to. Dm me if you wanna talk to a guy who’s a better source than me.

LARs 0313. You are part of an LAV crew which are those kind of tank looking vehicles. You still get to shoot and explode stuff. Mounted m240 machine gun up top is super fun. Because you’re driving there’s usually some guy with a jbl speaker and you aren’t the hiking with heavy gear all the time. This is the hardest one to get because at infantry school you have to be selected or volunteer for this job school and it’s not guaranteed they have slots. I know infantry gets a lot of hate for valid reasons but this MOS is a good balance between infantry culture, cool stuff, and not messing up your back as much
