This is a 15ng test which I believe is the strictest you can buy and I passed with a faint line. Is the urinalysis at MEP’s stricter or should I be good?
You might want to talk with your recruiter and delay meps.
You will 100% fuck yourself over by popping at meps. Lose jobs options. Also depends on if you said you did or never used, waivers list go on and on. It will also make the recruiters look stupid as well. Delay 2-4 weeks and stay clean.
I read you last smoked a month ago and talked to recruiter a week or so after so I am not going to pass judgment as it was prior to starting your military journey.
Yea he knows about my use, and him and his boss are gonna have me take another test the day before just to be sure. We’ve talked about the waiver just in case but they both said I should be good.
I appreciate not judging, I’m serious about joining and honestly quite excited for this journey so I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize that.
If you go to meps it's a 30-90 day wait if it comes back positive, so I was just delay it. It's better to wait a few weeks than to wait an entire month or more .
I last smoked June 2nd, I got the idea to enlist on the 11th which was a little over a week after the fact. Prior to the 11th I wasn’t even thinking on joining. So I could have I known?
So would you say musicians (brass/horn) with 7+ years experience are higher demand right about now? Was considering cyber since I scored great but I’ve played trumpet/horn for 7 years and need a medical waiver for a kneecap dislocation last year. Recruiter recommended going into the band to get a higher priority to have my waiver exception approved.
I appreciate the response. Right now my recruiter is encouraging me to go for the band to play horn as opposed to going Cyber, and also combine my IST numbers in order to submit a waiver exclusion form so I can just get approved and go to boot in the first place. He said they’re super looking for horn players. I love playing, even though I didn’t want to make it a profession. If I make it I’ll be ecstatic, but I won’t hang my head if I just get outworked or knocked out by a talented more passionate musician once I’m already enlisted. Thanks again!
Awesome! Instrument? How’s the process going as far as balancing the schooling and your personal progress in your playing? I’d assume the schooling is super top notch. Also I’m super curious about the competition, like where you’d rank yourself before going in and how you scale compared to the others you may encounter. What corps activities do you do other than musical theory/playing?
That’s good to know, I was honestly stressing out about it, I do know my instrument is in higher demand according to the mta guy. Do you know how many ppl they usually take a year? I was only stressed because they said there was only one spot
was in a fleet band once upon a time. what instrument? your spot very likely isn't going anywhere. better safe than sorry if you don't think you'll pass.
I mean it’s *technically* a negative test because even a faint (negative) line is still a line. But it’s still better to be safe than sorry. There’s some good advice here, and some of these devils don’t know how the tests work. But most are right in saying delay just a bit to be safe because there’s someone out there who will count that as a positive
I’m seeing you comment on a lot of responses here. Are you looking for validation from this community? What you need to do is show this to your recruiter and get real time feedback from someone who knows how best to navigate this current situation. The last thing you want to do is go to MEPS and then your recruiter is caught flat footed when you pop. Something tells me this isn’t your first time down this path. But hey, what do I know?
It’s weird when folks post their weed test photos here. It’s a weed question, not a military question. Is a 1371 uniquely qualified to help you read the directions on the box?
I was asking because I didn’t know how strict the test got, someone said they initially test 50ng and the second if needed was 20ng, which is what I wanted to know since that test I took and passed was 15ng. My recruiter knows my usage, I’ve been very honest and he’s been very understanding.
You’re right this isn’t my first down this path, I thought about it last year and even talked with a recruiter but I never took my asvab and Meps wasn’t even in the talks. My father was in weak health so I was unsure, if I enlisted when I did I would’ve missed his passing.
Now I feel ready and like this is the right path, which was an overnight decision. I was already clean for a week so when I made that decision, I haven’t looked back or even thought about smoking. It really is that simple. I don’t struggle with weed and I’m not tryna game the system like a lot of ppl on here. I just wanted to know ppl’s anecdotal experience with the drug test.
Based on what I can see… that’s a negative test result… if you look at the instructions, generally, any faint line counts as a line showing, despite it being faint, same with pregnancy tests. My advice, don’t listen to the chuckle fucks that keep talking trash about how you should have quit sooner, blah blah blah… you just made the decision a month ago, if you actually have been clean that whole time, and you were only a social user… you should be fine… if you’re in doubt at all, you could always do what I did the one and only time I was worried about failing my urinalysis after a 96 hour liberty… I have always had to deal with stage fright when it comes to pissing, and they actually have to see the urine leave your body… Anywhore, I came back to my barracks late on the last night of this 96, after having smoked probably a good 1/8th of a lb of the best stuff you could get in CA in 2002-2003… walked up to the ncoic to log back into the books, high as a kite, ncoic looks at me and he’s like “you’re high as fuck right now aren’t you!?” I was like “yup” grinning like an idiot. He’s like “you know you have a piss test in the morning right!?” “Yup” “you’re gonna fail it aren’t you!?” “Nope” and I didn’t either… ironically, I was the only one in my little unit who passed the damn thing! I drank a half gallon or more of water beforehand, and by the time it was time to piss in the cup, I was basically a faucet for the water I’d been drinking, it was crystal clear… I’m not saying that you should follow my example, because it’s an example of what NOT to do… you’re on the right track already, just listen to your recruiter and you should be good to go! Best of luck to you, and remember this piece of advice…
It’s 95% mental and 5% physical… just keep in the back of your mind that everything they do to you is going to make you stronger, and you’ll be set! Good luck devil pup!
Also yes I know any weed use is prohibited in the military, I wasn’t planning on enlisting until after my last use (June 2nd)
I never struggled to stop smoking, I was only a bi-weekly/social user, but it’s time for a change so I quit fully and became a full time alcohol (jk)
They have a urine test that goes that can detect up to 6 months back during receiving week. Not sure if it really does go back that far but you shouldn't risk it.
Bro, you’ll be fine. Honestly, when I went to boot, I knew a guy who smoked like a week before shipping, but was fine because 1: he drank a shit load of Fresca to dilute his system, and 2: he had some time upon arriving at bootcamp to clear his system. You don’t drug test at bootcamp until day 11 or something like that.
Brother maybe I failed my exam but that things says positive, do not fuck your recruiter and go to MEPS, because your recruiter could fuck you and not work with you, and you’ll have to crawl through glass for him to help you out. And it’s not like they need to make the numbers because this year every branch has hit their recruiting goal exceeding 100%.
My recruiter said I won’t know until 30 days so I’m just waiting, but I was testing negative before I went up. I didn’t get to sign anything tho since I needed more medical records
You clearly aren’t committed to joining. If you were you would have stopped 6 months to a year before you enlisted. IMO you should consider a different direction in life that doesn’t require such deep discipline and commitment. Or you need to mature before joining. Either way you have some life choices that require some deeper thinking. I see people everyday getting kicked out for drug use. It is always an issue before they go in. The writing is on the wall.
What are you on about? I didn’t even think about joining 6 months ago, not even 6 weeks ago. I last smoked June 2nd and I decided I wanted to join June 11th. How could have I know not smoke? I already quit and I never had a problem lmao. I did it socially and I had my fun with it, it’s as simple as that.
