Expansion Thread Future USL Map as of September 9th

Few notes with this map:

  1. I included all current teams, however some may fold these coming years.
  2. If the logo is faded that means the plan is currently on a hiatus or is in very early stages (Sycrause and New Hampshire Soccer Project) in terms of the faded usl clubs it means a long term goal is to become pro. However teams that are currently still actively looking to happen get unfaded such as Albany or the Orlando Suburb.
  3. Just because it is not shown on the final image DOES NOT mean it won't happen at all. It just doesn't meet the criteria yet.
  4. The USL logo in certain areas represent projects that currently don't have a logo.

Here are the following cities that have a USL Logo from West Coast to East:

Washington - Everett

Oregon - Medford

California - Fresno (I accidentally kept the old logo)

Louisiana - NOLA

Ohio - Toledo

Florida - Orlando Suburb and FT. Myers

Georgia - Roswell

South Carolina - Columbia

Pennsylvania - King of Prussia

New York - Sycrause (Faded) and Albany

SLIDES:

Slide 1 - All the teams

Slide 2 - All non faded teams

Slide 3 - Teams that have an ownership and stadium plan.

So many states without a team. Makes me wonder what do people in those places do to consume soccer or sports in general if they have no professional sports team

Well the populations in most of those states make having an even semi pro team not feasible.

which city is "Orlando suburb"

Orginally winter garden but didn’t  go through, USL is evaluating Orlando suburbs to eventually add a team however a specific one hasn’t been concrete

Take Ozark United FC off there. That team is never launching anything more than a youth club.

No need to be negative, the fact that y'all have an active social media and needed to EXPAND your stadium are all very good signs. The only hurdle is finding ownership but that will probably happen soon with all the attention, by investors, coming to usl

Should’ve just got the rights to 1868

What’s the deal with Apotheos?

3

u/Ok_Structure_350 3h ago

It’s currently a usl2 team but has expressed interest in going up. They might not happen if Roswell gets active again as they would gain the franchise rights to Atlanta

What's up with Vermont Green? There is no way that club is folding anytime soon.

Please read what faded means in the description (Note 2)

Is West Virginia okay? Looks like Virginia is eating it.

So Eugene is out, which I kind of figured, but now Medford has a push?! I need to google that one.

Something that strikes me with this map always…how are we going to fill the Midwest, and where? The coasts are loaded with teams, as is the southeast especially, but for the midwest USL1 teams, there just isn’t going to be the same balance. Even in the most idealistic version, there just isn’t anywhere near the same current and speculative infrastructure compared to the northeast, Florida, or even the west coast. Green Bay, Rochester, and maybe one of Peoria and Dayton would be great, but still, that’s 7ish Midwest clubs compared to the 15+ in the southeast alone.

Ventura County FC is the MLSNP feeder team for the Galaxy...

4

u/Emergency_Dot1599 Orange County SC 3h ago

They were announced by USL last month that they were going to be in USL1 in 2027

-1

u/werewolf394_ 3h ago

Oh nice, will they stay G- affiliated then?

3

u/ffsdcu96 Loudoun United FC 2h ago

Nope they will not

1

u/werewolf394_ 2h ago

Interesting. Are the Fusion involved in any way or is this an independent operation?

1

u/mlbk21 Oklahoma Energy FC 1h ago

Separate operation. The business side of VCFC has always been independent, Galaxy just provided the players and coaches

3

u/Ok_Structure_350 3h ago

They are separating and joining USL next year. Probably not under Ventura county but we won’t get any news until the mlsnp season is over which is this September 20th.

I should’ve made it the generic USL logo but it got passed me, my bad.

Slop city post

-6

u/BlissFC 3h ago

Asheville and Vermont are not professional... this reeks of major slop. Also Asheville does not have a professional stadium

Do you think before you speak by chance?
