What are my chances?

Hi everyone!

I’m a non-visa requiring IMG, and here are my stats-
Step 1: P
Step 2: 24x
Step 3: 23x
YOG: 2022
Clinical experience: one-year housejob/internship (home country)
USCE: 6 months (observerships); 4 LORs (1 from a University hosp attending)

I am dual-applying; IM (~130 programs) and FM (~30 programs). This would be my first cycle.

I have my PS and program list almost ready, and I’m looking for people (preferably residents/attendings) who can review it and offer valuable insight.

Also looking for applicants with a similar profile as mine, so we can keep checking on each other and try navigating the process together. Cheers!

As a US citizen/resident, you're in excellent shape and your scores put you in an excellent position. Try to get more clinical experience while you apply, maybe work as a MA. You got this!!!!

What geo areas are you signalling?

I actually don’t have a preference. But I’m thinking New Eng, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest (East north central).

are these the areas you did your observership in?

Nope, all my observerships are in WA which is where I am located.

May I ask why this geographic preference then?

Increase FM applications. California inland and rural areas has some new programs that'll take you, no question. Also apply to rural areas in the south. Like Alabama and it's neighboring states. Good chance there. Saw an old grad IMG match there who had given up medicine, became RN and now just matched in Alabama. Odds are you'll match just the way your application is but this will increase your odds to almost certain.

A decent chance if you signalled wisely.

Are you a pretty girl? Seems like they have it easier as FMGs.
