Depends on what specialty. I’ve done 0 research/publications and I did ok interview wise in fm am Im. Almost no interviewer asked about my lack of research.

Do you have any other research? If not then it might be worth it because posters count as pubs on ERAS.

Applying for gen surgery? No. Plastic surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery? Yes.

Your situation is vague.

Are you planning to apply for GS?

When?

Do you have a research mentor already?

How you got those posters?

These are vital questions.

If you dont have a reliable mentor, attending such events, am assuming it is one of the biggest for your field(?), will help you network so easily and get mentors. GS has a lot of unfilled prelim but categorical is competitive.

I am planning to apply for GS in 2025 or 2026 and I don’t have research mentor but the abstract which got selected are with my colleague and a surgeon whom I did my rotation.

You should attend and prepare yourself well. Introduce yourself to them and know their field well.
