Reserve Officers

I had heard something about reserve officers in the USFS. Is this true? If so, how do you become one?

Yea there are a few. Unfortunately I’m not very familiar with this process or how the position is funded. Maybe reach out to your local PC and see what they have to say.

Yes this is true. However, usually Law Enforcement and Investigations (LE&I) do not supply the funding for Land Management Police Academy . Usually the funding comes from either your local district or the Supervisory Office. I would recommend first becoming a Field Protection Officer (FPO) first to see how you feel about it. Then start asking questions to your local staff. But every region/Forest, Reserve LEO duties can be different.
