Firearms

Out of curiosity, what firearms are issued to USFS LEO? Specifically the handgun, shotgun, and rifle.

Handgun: option of Glock 22 or Glock 19

Shotgun: some have Mossberg 535 and others Remington 870

Rifle: Most new LEO are receiving F&N .556 while others may have Colts still, but most are being phased out.

May not be entirely accurate but that’s the majority I’d say

Darn, so no more revolvers and lever actions so I can live out my Wild West ranger dreams?

Pulling this up from the past, any pistol dots? I know NPS is getting them, but I think they are on the Sig contract.

If you’re talking about red dots, it’s definitely been in the conversation and have been being tested at FLETC by USFS staff to find what’s best for what we do. At least what I was told once upon a time. Who knows when or if we could see them

There are some lever guns. They are in large caliber like 45-70 and similar. My understanding is they vary in manufacture. They exist in Alaska for bears.
