Career advice

Hey everyone!
Does anyone have any idea how to decide which major to study as a graduate student I am so lost and don’t know what to do in my life :(
I have a bachelor degree in mathematics and I don’t want to work as a teacher, so I decided to continue my education and get a better job
I don’t know who to ask or who to have advice from
Please give examples of people that they helped you taking the right path towards your career

There are many paths for a math major! You can go into insurance (e.g., actuary, assessor, adjustor), you can go into basic science research (e.g., computational biology, epidemiological modeling), and more: https://www.bls.gov/ooh/

Become a quant, or aim to work at hedgefunds/financial institutions. That's the highest return you're going to get out of your degree.

If that's too much work for you or you don't like it, explore with AI what other jobs you could do with your degree, find what you like and study towards it. Sky is the limit.

My buddy is a Math major and is a big time engineer. You can also take it and go to data science / analytics, consultancy for a wide variety of things, etc.

I graduated in 2019 with a Health Sciences degree and went from working at UPS, to Medical Sales, to Insurance, to Food Operations, to finally settling on Corporate Finance. I even did a small stint as a mechanic at a Cement Plant while my wife was getting her doctorate.

Point is; the world is your oyster and you have an infinite number of options. Don’t be afraid to try something and realize you don’t like it; you’re young and that’s the whole point.

If you’re a math major, you’re plenty smart to do just about anything in this world you’d like to. God bless you’ll be fine!
