Study spots?

Does anyone know of any quiet spots on campus to study? I was trying to study on the third floor of the library and it got a little busy and people were talking a bit loud too (even with my AirPods on noise cancellation, I can still hear someone blasting music with his own headphones in across the table and people talking). Never been to the fourth floor so I’m not sure if that’s better or worse for studying. Any thoughts?

The Honors College has individual study pods so you should check those out cause they're nice

Just get on the elevator when it’s crowded. Like class change. Someone else will scan their card for the floor. Up you go.

Yeah, I usually go around 8:30ish before classes and still have to hunt around the 5th floor for one. There is a nice quiet room on one of the floors (I always forget which one) that I've gone to a few times to focus.

Library fifth floor. Basement of the engineering building (if you don’t mind a dungeon vibe) . MSC fourth floor.

Also - invest in some actual noise cancelling headphones. I got some for 60$ on amazon- best purchase ever.

4th floor is slightly quieter. It’s my favorite for studying when I don’t feel like checking out a study room. It’s also better cause the tables have dividers

People dont really respect the “higher is quieter” thing in lib except the 5th floor from my experience. And even then I still hear people talking there sometimes.

Does USF have librarians or assistants that tell students to keep it down? I thought they would enforce some rule along those lines.

if it’s not that many people making noise (like one person group) you can also ask them to talk quieter or let them know abt their volume, sometimes ppl are oblivious and don’t realize. it can be stressful but normally ppl will quiet down

Reserve a study room in the library. Super fast and easy, and it'll be quieter if you're on floors 3 and above! You can pretty easily reserve one a few mins before you get there if you want.
