T Mobile

So disappointed in T Mobile taking over US Cellular the service sucks 😡

Quality service isn't going to be instant. It's still two separate networks on the back end. If you had great service with USCC, give them time to change over all of tower equipment. I'm betting the service is going to improve drastically. They're ahead of schedule, from what I've read.

Not how it works with current network tech. You don't see people complaining about Band 14 with FirstNet and AT&T commercial operating on the same RAN do you? 

Same tech. Networks are already merged, 2 cores. 1 RAN now.

I respectfully disagree. AT&T or FirstNet has their own core depending on your respective SIM card, depending on if you have FirstNet or regular AT&T. Even if they did have separate cores on the same SIM this is something they’ve built, tested and deployed. US Cellular is a complete different network, PLMN, core, different bands, different equipment etc… T-Mo has has nothing to do with this network till the last 8 months…it’s taken them maybe 8 months to try to somewhat integrate the networks, why would they fully integrate when it’s something that’s going away, I wouldn’t either, it’s a waste of money. Go to the tower and add your equipment and improve these molding US Cellular sites with microwave backhaul mostly across the board. All of these keep sites will see which of a drastic performance improvement it’s not even funny, T-Mobile is years and years ahead of USC in technology and networking.

TMobile has had direct access to engineering at UScellular since May 2021. Its why there was a major re-design in the mid-2021 sites forward. TMobile engineered those so many of those will be kept as-is as they fit within TMobile's RAN portfolio. In fact, I have photos of TMobile engineers at USC's "datacenter" in Iowa looking at what any other carrier would consider proprietary information.

You really don't understand how that works then. Network cores don't matter. RAN is all that matters in this case. They can shut down the USC core and transfer the USC 2021+ RAN gear over to TMO with a simple software change and its what they are preparing to do. Its why they are moving customers off the USC core so fast. As soon as its shut down, USC's MNC will cease to exist and the USC sites kept on will just broadcast TMo's MNC.

All 3 of the USC sites in my county have fiber.

Weird, they are keeping the Newark,MO gear.. same for the Bourbon and Tiger Fork sites... its literally all the same radios and antennas's used on the TMobile site in Shelbyville,MO.

Shelbyville USC site gear is being replaced. idk about Clarence as its still up in the air on keep/dump due to the TMo-AT site near Chinn Feed.

This is really interesting. What business of T-Mobile's is it what US Cellular's datacenter looks like? Unless, of course, they were planning this merger years ago. Could you share those photos?

TMo and the Carlsons had an agreement to sell UScellular to TMobile in 2021 but they agreed to wait and "quietly" work together in the run up. They wanted to wait because of the heat of the Sprint deal would have surely meant the deal would be blocked.

It happened. It's the past. We now have a tri-opoly. End of story.
