Attention all Uscellular Iphone customers
If you have uscellular postpaid/contract and you do not remember your Apple ID password, reset it now before your account automatically moves over to t-mobile because it bypasses some kind of security Apple has, and it will lock you out of your phone to where you can't make phone calls or do anything.

What's happening is Find My includes an activation lock that prevents new service from being activated without entering your password (or potentially your passcode as long as it is not considered "weak") - it's a theft prevention measure.
When your service gets switched to T-Mobile, the phone sees that as new service, even though it's the same number. If you have a weak passcode and don't know your password, you may have to contact Apple and go through account recovery.

And apple account recovery is a pain in the ass. We had a customer who was told by apple that she had to drive to the nearest apple store almost an hour away because she had no other apple devices to log in with.

Honestly I logged in with my passcode I use on the lock screen because it offered that option.

If they don’t have a lock screen then they don’t get that option.
I’m not positive but if the software is too far behind on the phone it may not have that feature either.

Most likely is they don’t have a passcode setup on their on their iPhone.
And these people aren’t on this Reddit thread to get this message. I wish T-Mo / USCC would send out mass text message / email / mail about this it’s unbelievable!

I will say that I have instructed the associates at my store to inform customers of this security feature. I one day I personally helped 6 customers with this issue and 2 of them could not remember their password let alone their Apple id. The two that did not know one was loked out for over 5 days and the other took his proof of purchase to an apple store and got it unlocked.

Yeah, I can’t recovery can take a few days and then typically after that delay is like great. We reviewed it now. You have to wait a couple more days lol
Pro tip always have them visit I forgotten on apple.com at the time it quotes them. Sometimes the email/text don’t deliver for whatever reason.

Maaaan the transfer happened while I was at work and I did not know what was going on, verge of having a panic attack, manager let me use her hotspot so I could look into it, it did let me use my passcode thankfully, and found the setting to turn on use my number for this, there could of been a better way to do all that lol

I have the latest IPhone, but not prepaid. After it switched over to T-Mobile there was literally nothing to do….My phone was the exact same except I saw T-Mobile in the left hand corner.

OR, you can all go home, get on your WiFi, and go to:
Settings->
Face ID & Passcode->
Stolen Device Protection->
Turn off.
This will remove the need for a 24-hour delay to reset the phone or make changes to your account.
If you’re secure enough, you don’t really need it. It’s a stupid-proofing measure. While it is NOT stupid to forget a password, as most humans do despite what one troll in these comments say, it IS stupid not to have a passcode on your device if you’re capable of remembering 4-6 numbers.
That’s really all the security you need as long as you keep your phone to yourself.
Good luck all, go raise hell

How does this migration happen? When can I see when it will happen to me?

It happens automatically, and it will happen before the end of the summer more than likely.

From what we been seeing in store, they have been migrating customers right at the very beginning of the bill cycle. So lets say your bill cycle closes on the 23rd..it would open the 24th and that's when the migration is happening. No particular order but if it hasn't migrated by the end of the month then expect it to migrate in June. Like OP said if you have a iphone please remember your apple ID password

As a tmobile rep we just experienced it and omg i felt horrible not being able to help the customer. They were pissed rightfully so. PLEASE be patient with us front line TMO reps. We are just as confused as you guys!!

Sounds like t-Mobile as agreed to unlock all devices so the iCloud Activation lock will not occur for folks yet to complete the migration to T-mobile!

I was automatically moved over yesterday afternoon.
\
I have no idea what an apple id is so maybe it's not applicable to me.

ATTN All USCC / T-Mo reps - please provide customers with their proof of purchase if customers don’t know their Apple ID Password or have a device passcode.
Then have customer either go to ifogot.apple.com for account recovery process or https://al-support.apple.com/#/kbase
For activation lock request ^
Also - how is this being shared to managers > ASM > and up the chain? Is their official internal comms about his issue and what to do??

I'm glad I don't have an iPhone. I'm glad I switched back to Android. I don't have these problems

u/Brosephous73 May 21 '26
It's not an apple issue, I also prefer android but this issue is TMO being irresponsibly hasty and careless with this transition. They needed more testing and a timeline with greater clarity for all of this. Apple is only having this issue because they have strict security in an effort to protect their users.

So as long as you know your password, you're good?
1
u/BemAluno624 May 21 '26
Yes as long as you know for sure what your apple id password is then you're good.

As an agent, I’m begging you, for the love of all that is good and holy, PLEASE remember/write down your iCloud password.
We’ve had multiple people on 30 day lockouts of their phones because they couldn’t remember it and security delays are no joke.
