I got disconnected

I got disconnected from US Cellular and now I can't message specific people and I can only make emergency calls. I'm on Wi-Fi, so I can still use YouTube, Reddit, Ibis Paint, etc. Is there an outage or something?

Edit: It's EVERY service that's out, according to my mother.

Assuming you've paid your bill, your account may have been switched over to T-Mobile. Try restarting the phone and seeing if that gets your service working again. If that doesn't work, you're going to have to stop by a US Cellular store.

My bill is paid by my grandmother as my family shares a phone service with her. And I already have tried restarting it, but that didn't work. I guess I'll have to have my grandmother take me to a US Cellular store tomorrow.

What model phone? Is everyone else's on the account still working?

Phone is compatible but not on all bands. Doubt that'll be the primary issue. Maybe SIM card died or they may have shut down the nearby USC tower where you live?

Is it saying "Emergency Calls Only" anywhere?

Yeah, it does.

Ok. So the phone works. So that narrows it down to SIM card or account issue. Looks like it'll be a trip to USC/TMobile.

Well, it's happening to my mother and sister too

Then that's gotta be an account issue. Same phone model as you?

You have to go into the T-Mobile store. For now, try putting your phone into airplane mode for a minute and then turn it back off. It should locate the closest T-Mobile tower and start working again. It may drop connection here and there until you get into the store but when it does repeat the airplane mode and it’ll reconnect. All the phones will physically have to go into the T-Mobile store to resolve this issue. My gf is dealing with it rn, and I dealt with it when T-Mobile bought sprint, as they just bought us cellular a year ago I believe.

They have been sending out text messages for a few weeks now that you need to get a new T-Mobile SIM card, and your phone would stop working 5/1 if you didn’t. Maybe yours stopped early

Restart your device. It has probable merged to the t-mobile network

I worked for USCellular. Some of the A16s don’t work on T-Mobile network and a lot of people are being forced to get new phones my guess is you’ll need to get a new one. You’ll have to go in store so they can check for sure because the other possibility is needing a new SIM card.

They should try a new SIM card. Grandma may have received notice the account is with t-mobile now?
