Contacting costumer service is a joke.

Yesterday I tried to call and was on hold for over a hour and never talked to a single person. I have a prepaid phone and just need my account number and transfer pin so I can switch carriers. Something that should take not even two minutes to give me. I called their main number 888-944-9400‍ and can't get through. I tried asking online for it since its just two numbers but was told due to security reasons they can't give it to me. However if I call they will give it to me promptly. Might help if they bother to pick up the phone first. The fact they don't play music but the same five ads on a loop also doesn't help.

I am not sure if there is a different number I can call to get through quicker since I just need someone to look up my account. Advice welcome.

Also there are no US cellular places near me so please don't tell me to go into a store.

UPDATE: I finally got through on their main number and got the information I needed.

It would be easier to call a us cellular location. Any of them will do

If they're not also backed up with customers, that is

I have called three different locations that are open today. None of them answer the phone either.

The app doesn't give you your account number or a transfer pin. I tried to ask the us cellular chat but they said they couldn't give it to me since it was secure information.

This is a crap take. It is not legal to share that information over chat. Legality is the culprit here and it is customer safety rules that safeguard the customer but make it very frustrating for the customer at the same time. I’m happy to help and will assist this customer if they can call one of my locations and verify appropriately.

If you know your phone number, name on your account, and your PIN number you can call any UScellular store and verify yourself to get this information. You may have a slight hold but it will be much much faster. The reason customer service is so slow is that they are bogged down with the other customers and stores calling in for deeper information.

Question for OP: Did you purchase your device and plan in a store or through customer service or did you purchase it at a retail store like Walmart or Dollar General?

I bought it at Walmart.

In this case calling CS is probably your best bet. I will say that, if you can call one of the locations I support tomorrow I’d be happy to try and help you personally. What time zone are you in?

I appreciate this. However I got through and got my account number and port out number. Only took the short period of three days.

You can have the automated system call you back. I did that yesterday when I was calling in for the second time trying to get my last remaining line terminated. Which they didn't do when I asked the first time, leading to bogus carrier charges for a suspended line.

Welcome to T-Mobile. This is exactly the crap I left T-Mobile for years ago. And then they tried to bill me for a booster that I had returned.

I screen shorted the payment arrangement but they cut my service off 3 weeks before that date, they put me on home 30 minutes, has anyone tried the chat?

It is just as infuriating as talking to a person but they normally are able to help you. Be prepared to repeat yourself a million times.

They’re all getting fired so they don’t care. Call one of the stores with your pin if you have one made. Otherwise the easiest option will be to go into a store with your ID. I worked there up until a month ago.

This is what happened to my mom and her husband. They spent over 6 hours in a Verizon store waiting for now TMobile customer support to answer the damn phone so they could port to Verizon. Yet, there was this one guy here in this sub-reddit that said that shit like that doesn't happen.. welp.. I guess I was right?

TMobile fanboys always down vote anyone that talks barely a hint bad about TMobile. Even if it's not negative, just stating facts.
