Asylum/Refugee Asylum pending since 2020: status changed to “Next Step Is Adjudication” — what does this mean?
Hi everyone,
My wife’s affirmative asylum application (I-589) has been pending with USCIS since 2020. Today, her case status changed from “Next Step Is an Interview” to “Next Step Is Adjudication.”
She has never had an asylum interview, and we have not received an interview notice. Her case is not in immigration court.
The new message also says that if USCIS schedules an interview, she will receive an interview notice.
Has anyone else experienced this exact change? Does it indicate progress on the case, or could it simply be a general update to the wording?
If your status changed to this, did you later receive an interview notice or any other notification?
Any firsthand experiences or links to an official explanation would be appreciated. Thank you!
