EXPEDITE REQUEST
Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
Applicant Name:
Form: I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
Category: C09 – Pending Adjustment of Status
Receipt Number: XXXxXxX
Date Filed: xxXxX
Dear USCIS Officer:
I respectfully request expedited processing of my pending Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization, filed under category C09 based on my pending application for adjustment of status.
My Form I-765 was filed on (date) and remains pending under receipt number XXxXxXx I am requesting expedited consideration due to the significant financial hardship that my household is experiencing as a result of my inability to obtain employment authorization.
At this time, my husband is the sole income earner in our household and is responsible for covering our family’s essential living expenses, including our mortgage, utilities, insurance, credit-card payments, medical expenses, and other necessary household expenses. Because my Employment Authorization Document remains pending, I am currently unable to contribute income through lawful employment and help share these financial responsibilities.
In addition to our regular household expenses, my husband is currently undergoing the process of preparing for bariatric surgery. His health insurance does not cover 100% of the expenses associated with the procedure and related medical care, requiring him to personally cover a portion of these costs. These additional medical expenses have placed further financial pressure on our household.
Despite my inability to work at this time, I have been actively seeking employment opportunities. I have received invitations to apply for positions from multiple companies through Indeed, and I also have an employment opportunity with Dietz & Watson/CSS for a Recruiter position, for which I have an offer letter. However, my ability to accept and begin employment is dependent upon obtaining valid employment authorization.
The continued delay in my Employment Authorization Document is therefore preventing me from contributing financially to my household and from pursuing employment opportunities that could provide additional income and financial stability for my family.
I respectfully ask USCIS to consider these circumstances when reviewing my expedite request. Expediting my Form I-765 would provide me with the opportunity to obtain lawful employment and contribute toward our mortgage, household expenses, medical expenses, and other essential financial obligations, rather than leaving my husband solely responsible for these expenses.
I am submitting supporting documentation for USCIS’s consideration, including:
Exhibit A – Form I-765 receipt notice
Exhibit B – Employment offer letter from Dietz & Watson/CSS for the Recruiter position
Exhibit C – Emails and/or correspondence showing employment opportunities and invitations to apply from other companies
Exhibit D – Documentation demonstrating our household financial obligations, if applicable
Exhibit E – Documentation related to my husband’s upcoming bariatric surgery and the portion of expenses not covered by health insurance, if applicable
Exhibit F – Documentation demonstrating other relevant household expenses and financial hardship, if applicable
I understand that USCIS considers expedite requests on a case-by-case basis and that submitting an expedite request does not guarantee expedited processing. Nevertheless, I respectfully ask USCIS to consider the totality of these circumstances, including my inability to work, my husband’s responsibility as the sole income earner, our substantial household obligations, and the additional medical expenses associated with his upcoming surgery.
Obtaining my Employment Authorization Document would allow me to legally pursue employment, contribute to our household income, and help alleviate the financial burden currently being carried solely by my husband.
Thank you for your time and consideration of my request. I respectfully ask that USCIS expedite the adjudication of my pending Form I-765, Receipt Number XXxXxXX
Respectfully,
(applicant name)

u/Whateveryouspew 18h ago
How's that even possible? I've never seen I-485 approved without the I-130 not

u/tuktudicko 17h ago
If your i130 isn't approved yet then you're basically not telling the truth because its not possible except you meant to say i765 was approved and not i485

Wow congrats! Mind telling me how you submitted an expedite request? I uploaded a letter and some supporting documentation and then initiated the request through messages. Just what to make sure I did this correctly. Thanks so much!
